Posted - Aug 30 2012 : 08:37:30 AM So yesterday I tried making the recipe for Apple Pie Filling that's in the Lifebook. Everything was going great...but we had a ton of apple slices left over (the book said 18 pounds of apples...) and I filled the jars to 1/2 inch head space... but this morning when I checked the seal on my jars, most had overflowed. Wondering if I packed everything in too tight or if I should of done an inch of head space instead. Thoughts?

Posted - Aug 31 2012 : 06:19:40 AM I have wanted to make apple pie filling and have a recipe that calls for clear jel. I can't find the clear jel anywhere here. I have everything sitting in my kitchen and am going to try to find a different recipe. Has anyone ever heard of this? |
