Hi there farmgirls,

I noticed on Mary Jane's calendar that today is "Thank a Mailman Day". I left a card in the mailbox for our mailman thanking him . . he's been our carrier for more than 20 years. He's kinda grumpy at times but he has been VERY DEPENDABLE and we DO APPRECIATE HIM.

He wrote us a note back that said "Thank You! Probably few have even noticed".

Sooooo, I encourage you to thank your mail carrier . . if you feel so inclined. We certainly appreciate ours!

My poor mailman today was absolutely frozen! Very, very cold here today. I asked him how he is managing to stay warm and he said every once in a while he would stand in the sun. Poor fellow....

Yes we do CJ :)

I missed his special day but in addition to Christmas I occasionally will leave a treat in the mailbox for him like jam, salsa, or marshmallows :)

P.S. I always give our mailman a box of goodies at Christmas too, but that's easy to just put in the mailbox. He always appreciates it.

Just a bit of trivia: "Calicogirl" . . (Sharon Demers) and I have the same mail carrier. He gets to my house before he gets to hers! :D

Cj,,, What a great idea,,, we don't have a mail carrier per say... we have a "Cluster Box' system down at the main road... and a contract carrier delivers the mail to the locked boxes... I personally don't use the box, I have to go into town to retrieve my mail from our P.O. box at the Post Office, that being said, because we are a small mountain community we know our Postal Clerks well.. O should bring in a vase of flowers,,, or maybe some cookies...or a bottle of wine! (heeheehee, wink wink!)

We managed to give our trash guys a box of cookies at Christmas. I had them double boxed, put a HUGE note on it that said "THIS BOX IS NOT TRASH" and tied it to the outside top of the trash cart. We were home so when I heard them coming I watched to make sure! :D

We give our mailman gifts - usually a plate of goodies or this year it was jars of jellies, jams, and butters - every year! They are always so excited to get it!!!! I really want to do the same for our trash men, but I never catch them at the right time!!!
