I live on the upper Texas Gulf Coast and we are nervously watching the approach of not one, but two tropical systems - Hurricane Marco and Tropical Storm (soon to be a hurricane) Laura. Anyone who is familiar with storms like these knows how scary and destructive they can be. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the damage is minimal, there is no loss of life and the storms dissipate quickly once they make landfall.

They are quite fierce even if you live inland like I do in Florida. We all dread hurricane season down here!

I can only imagine the damage of these storms and feel so sorry for those in the way of them. But from what I saw on television---it sure did make me cry!

Stacy, I hope Hurricane Ida didn't bring a lot of damage to your area. I live inland here in north Florida and this time of year is always filled with angst! The storms just roll off the African coast and sometimes head on over to the extra warm waters of the Caribbean where they get juiced up on the extra warm waters. Florida is often right in the path as it heads into the even warmer waters of the Gulf. What happened to New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana is heart breaking! Gosh what a huge mess and so much recovery ahead of everyone. Hopefully they can establish some power soon so that people can get money out from banks, get gas, get water and food supplies, and all the basics. I know many people are trying and working round the clock to help and I hope essentials become available soon. Sending prayers to all the states that have suffered in the path of this destructive storm!

Ida was really bad for Louisiana. I follow United Cajun Navy on Facebook and there are still people who are trapped (as of 8/31/21). I hope and pray that they can safely get these folks to safety soon. Thank goodness for organizations like that who come together in a time of need!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our farmgirl sisters affected by the recent hurricane Ida. We have been seeing some footage on the news over here in Australia. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have one of those destructive storms come through your house. Stay safe!

Thanks so much for the good wishes, Sara! I don't know if Marco will go anything for you, but if Laura keeps tracking the more this way, you might get some rain when she makes her northeast turn. I'm a little familiar with your area.I have ancestors who lived in Upshur County. Have a great day!

Florida has taken a beating again and again over the years. I wish we could also get further away from the coast. It's just not a practical option at the moment. You're right, though, it is a good reason to clean out the fridge. Have a great day!
