Today I mostly city girl'd. I went to work, yes even a pandemic didn't get me out of work. Once I got home I was free to be my FarmGirl self. I took my inhouse cat out to the garden to visit the birds while I watered. The smoke in the air is heavy here near Sacramento, California due to the California wildfires. Fortunately I have a great mask, um because of the pandemic. So I played in my garden. My potato plant looked funny so I had to investigate. Four caterpillars later I figured where the holes came from. Then I walked through the garden admiring the abundance. I need this garden fix after work each day. It centers me. It calms me. It is part of my Farm
Girl heart.

Gardened, snipped, pruned, planted, walked barefoot through out my yard and garden area... just love feeling the earth beneath my feet.

I went out to my garden really early this morning and picked a whole bunch of freshly bloomed pink rose petals that had been washed clean by rainwater over night to dry for tea. I am so excited. They smell so good and look SO vibrant! Can't WAIT for the other flowers and herbs to be ready to pick!

Hugs -

I watered the numerous plants growing in my house and greenhouse this morning. We are just waiting for that last frost date to plant the "outside" things. My father in law used to say, "Don't put your zucchini out until June 10th. He was right. We usually get a storm right around there.

Lean on me, when you're not strong, And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on, For it won't be long, 'Til I'm gonna need, Somebody to lean on.

Monday, I made my annual batch of my Mom’s Bread and Butter pickles from the cucumbers in my daughter’s garden. I send them to a couple of my brothers and sisters who love them and the rest are for my girls and whoever else wants to try them. My Mom grew cucumbers in a little garden patch out by our kitchen porch and made these pickles every summer. We grew up with them on grilled burgers and sandwiches.

Jones Orchard Farm stand, 2 miles from me is bursting with Strawberries! They are so sweet! I go there 2 to 3 times a week until Thanksgiving! One of my favorite farmgirl things to do! I love to chat with the owners and their kids and Grandkids, Everyone who is old enough works! They are 4th generation Family Farm Since 1940.

First thing this morning I opened my windows to get the fresh country breeze blowing in. Not anything to big but it sets my mood for a good day!

Hmmmm... was a full day... Grocery shopped for my family and my 95 year old neighbor man, delivered groceries - love makes the world go round, watered and spoke sweet nothings to all my little garden sprouts, took my puppers to the vet - he was exposed to coccidia? a highly contagious parasite? Goodness! If it's not covid, its something else! Received our new bed mattress, and transitioned that new beastie upstairs, home schooled the boys, caught up on laundry and dishes after 2 days of not having any hot water, put dinner on and now I'm farmgirl'ing!! Sighhhh... R & R for mama! Hopefully I can get some real Farmgirl'ing in this weekend!!

This morning I'll finish canning the leftover eye of the goat & cranberry beans. 2 pints each. Later it's work on the raised beds so I can plant garlic in Oct. All done in my fall canning apron and FarmGirl at Heart attitude. Gotta love the fall, gardening, and canning.
