I laughed at that commercial showing a man without his trousers on during a Zoom call - but it’s actually a real lesson for all of us. I was surprised that my primary MD wanted to do my annual physical as a virtual appointment. I thought she would just ask a bunch of questions with me in front of the Zoom screen. Surprise! She had me stand up, move my chair back from the computer, and do some tests she normally has me do in my annual office visit. Oh my…what was I wearing? Since my normal attire at home is a long skirt and top, I was OK. Tip: be fully dressed and ready to be fully visible with any virtual appointment.
Also, be ready to demonstrate your problem. For example – clothes that allow movement if you have a back pain or if you have a rash, wear clothing that you can discretely show that area. Remember our old Girl Scout motto - Be prepared!
FYI – I’ll be on two radio shows this week to discuss tips on how best to prepare for virtual medical appointments from a nurse practitioner (Me!)
