Posted - Dec 21 2021 : 07:33:13 AM How many of you celebrate the winter solstice? Hubby and I always do---just ourselves and the animals. Tonight we will have a special dinner and sit and talk about the last year and our plans for the new year. We love these wonderful short winter days---every one we know hates them---but so much beauty and peace in the long winter evenings. I hate the summer solstice---all that work until dark and the days are too long for an old geezer like me. I can picture all the summer chores now and I do dread it all---LOL> But by March my old bones will be sick of winter and ready for it all.

Posted - Dec 22 2021 : 12:15:54 PM I love hearing about all of your celebrations of the Winter solstice. While I have never celebrated it per say, I always make a note of the date and time it occurs and put it in my journal. I think next year, I should do a celebration because it is a unique time of year and season and worthy of marking. I think it has always just gotten mixed up with Christmas stuff, but now with grown kids and pared down Christmas agenda, a Winter Solstice celebration would be a great idea. Thanks for sharing what you all did!!

Posted - Dec 22 2021 : 11:21:29 AM We also celebrate Solstice. It's nice to know others do, too. Happy Solstice everybody! We celebrated my getting the bandage off my eyes and DH cooked a fine Indian dinner (with boxes from Trader Joe's). Welcome the return of the Sun -- one day closer to Spring!

Posted - Dec 21 2021 : 6:00:20 PM We celebrated the winter solstice tonight with a big Persian meal that I made. My husband is originally from Iran and the solstice is a big winter celebration for Persians. Dinner took me over 3 hours to make and fortunately it was delicious!
Happy solstice to all, may the light triumph over darkness tonight for you! Dawn in IL
