Posted - Aug 03 2020 : 7:38:26 PM So for all they years I have been gardening,,, and growing tomatoes... I have never seen this...
All my other tomatoes are fine,, and ripening... but this particular plant,,, all but a few of the tomatoes have this weird brown dimpling... any ideas??? This is the 1st time in growing tomatoes in over 20 plus years that I have ever encountered something like this...

Posted - Aug 13 2020 : 11:29:01 AM I went out and really searched through all my tomato plants and plucked any that showed signs of rot... I think I got them all... fingers and eyes crossed... I have never had this before in all the years I have grown a garden... hopefully this will be the last time too!

Posted - Aug 12 2020 : 8:23:32 PM I get it with mine as well. My very first tomato of the tear had it. When I first started to grow my garden my dad taught me about blossom rot. It’s really big with squash. I am always watching my blossoms to get them pulled off before they ruin my food. I hope the remainder of your tomatoes will turn out good.

Posted - Aug 11 2020 : 9:20:01 PM Phew! That is NASTY for blossom end rot, Gracie! Yikes! I've never seen it look like that. Are you sure there wasn't a little buggy-buddy in there, as well? YIKES!
I'm with Diana. I save up all of our eggshells all year long, just rinsing and air-drying them, then putting them in a big 2 1/2 gallon baggie. At planting time, I just crush them and put them in the dirt under and all around the tomato plants. I'm SURE it was one of the farmgirls who told me to do that, but I can't remember which dear sister it was - GOD BLESS HER! I haven't had a problem since! Totally recommend it, girlie!
I'm so sorry. I know how disappointing this can be. But the girls are right. It's perfectly safe to cut off the bad spot on blossom end rot and use the rest of the tomato... Just gotta get past that "skeemisch factor." LOL. Please don't give up on your sauce and salsa and pickles just yet... Maybe there is a really good farm nearby???? OR a really good gardening friend???
Love and hugs -

Posted - Aug 06 2020 : 5:04:00 PM Yes===blossom end rot for sure. We get it every year and this year we got root rot---never had. We have had curly top and horn worms and early blight and late blight. I figure there has been a garden here for at least one hundred fifty years and that packs a lot of disease and every pest known to tomatoes .They are a pain in the butt and when I get a crop I can them up in a fury. Maybe every three years we get a crop. I do so love the smell of the plants and the wonderful tomatoes. So whatever you get ----enjoy!!!

Posted - Aug 03 2020 : 7:50:07 PM Blossom end rot. Happens when there is a period of dry to wet or wet to dry. I see it every year here to some extent. Try picking off the bad fruit and hopefully you can get some decent fruits Ugh, nothing like seeing a tomato and then seeing that on the bottom |
