Hi everyone!

We took another trip upstate yesterday and put in an offer on a house, which was accepted today!, on a sweet house built in 1940. The view in front is of the green mountain national park in Vermont. It is over 500' in elevation on a beautiful hill, and it has an apple tree! There's a perfect spot for my new greenhouse.

Its a bout 10 min from the VT border. The pictures don't do the views any justice. It's at over 500' elevation, with beautiful rolling hills, with amenities 5 min away, and some even closer. There's a chicken coop and a swing for my grandson! So we are moving to Hoosick Falls, NY. I've been talking about this for YEARS and finally! So in about 8 weeks, no more renting! The house is 4.5 hrs from where I live now. What a drive!

Here it is: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/116-Hill-Rd-Hoosick-Falls-NY-12090/55730910_zpid/

The environment there is SO different, just what I've always wanted. I can't wait to pack and go!!!!!! I'm already planning my gardens.

I think I'm in shock LOL.

Rest first. Then share pictures of the greenhouse. I've always wanted one.

For the late update, we almost have all of the plants in the ground. I had hernia surgery two weeks ago so its taking longer to get things done. My husband and son are working hard. The maple syrup turned out thin but delicious. We discovered that we have more sugar maples than we thought, so next year we will really be cranking out the syrup. My outdoor pizza oven is setup, as well as my campfire cooking areas. The house is a mess because we've been focusing on the yard for so long. now we're expecting heat for the next 5 days, and i won't be outside in that. In the greenhouse, the lettuce and arugula are ready. with the heat, further lettuce crops will be done outside the greenhouse. My heart feels content and my dream is unfolding. I just want to sit under my sugar maple reading my Mary Jane's mag and admiring the mountain view. Oh, and my second grandson, Christian, is due in like a week!

Well That is s true saying. but not what I intended to post lol! Your place sounds beautiful. welcome to NY!! Wouldn't live anywhere else. We have 43 acres here. Just wanted to warn you, the coyotes are pretty cool to hear howling. But, they are very hard on any small animals or fowl you may own.Just a word of caution! I am sure you probably already know that. Hope you enjoy your new home and surroundings.

Hi everyone!

It's been 4 months since we've moved into our home. We've been painting and have had a lot of work done here, and more to still do. Some of the repairs were expected and some not. Nothing terrible. Still I can't believe the mountain views we have. Soon my greenhouse will go up, something I've been dreaming of for years. We just realized that we have sugar maples here, so we've tapped the trees and are collecting sap to make maple syrup. That was exciting to discover! I am going to have so many plants to put in the ground. I've started vegetable seed indoors under lights. There's a small room off the kitchen which I've made into my walk in pantry, but it needs paint and flooring. I can't wait for it to be done so I can do canning this year.

Our second grandson, Christian Noah, is due in June. So many great changes. The stress i felt in the house we were renting is simply gone. Moving away from that chaos has felt like a burden off of my shoulders. The house next door to me sold after ours did and the neighbor came over to introduce herself, which was nice. There's a freight train that passes down in the valley every day. it is super long and so cool to hear. We have coyotes too. I told my husband that we are so lucky to live here. I will post pictures soon. I am so happy that spring is just days away!

I love the enclosed porch too. I plan on sleeping in there once in a while. I'm trying to figure out paint colors, and how to safely fence our dogs in.

I am so excited for you and hope you do before/after photos to share with us. I hope you don't mind me living through your adventure, as I hope to be in the same situation the end of summer 2021. After living in the same city/state for most of my life, we (my husband & I) hope to relocate to the state of Washington after our daughter settles into a new job and property. It is a little scary and exciting, as the possibilities are huge (to match our wish list, woodworking workshop for husband, big kitchen, garden, and sewing room for me).

The sale is due to close the beginning of November. We are timing it with my husbands retirement. I don't expect to do any gardening unless we have mild weather, I might be able to transplant a few things. Other than that I thought I'd wait until spring. The house need painting, so that will keep us busy for the winter.

Sounds exciting Connie! You have a few months of bad weather to do inside work before hitting the ground outside. When does the sale close?

Hi Jana,

We want to get chickens, but not right away. In fact the current owners have chickens there but I imagine they would take them. I am planning where the greenhouse is going and how the property will be landscaped. We'll have to paint, and right now just figuring it out as we go.
