I pretty much made it up myself, after reading and searching for a pattern.
I used my fat quarter stash, cutting each quarter into fours (half and half). I started with the top tier making it bigger than my waist using one print of fabric (looks more uniform to me that way), then for each tier below using the quarters (long up and down.. makes you look leaner) about two or three rectangles bigger than the upper, baste at the top of the tier and gather to adjust to the above tier. You keep going till you get the length that you want. Make a casing at the waist for the elastic and slide in the elastic, hem and the viola ... took me about two days the most.
this could be even easier if you used one kind of fabric and make strips of them for your tiers.

Oh it is beautiful!!! I wish I was taller.. I just am too short and dumpy to look good in one. My sister always lloks so good in those!!!! Did you use a pattern or just make it up yourself? way to cute!!!

I'm having a dejavu moment...2 actually. I had one just like this is in 1973 and one very similar in a vertical swirl patter...with a matching tie at the waist top. Ok, so I'm old now...but I wasn't then. Junior in high school.
It really is true...'everything that goes around, comes around'...all over again. Now I know how my mama felt when us kids thought 50s stuff was cool. 20 short years turns cool into 'vintage' :o)

I love the prairie skirts! I used to wear them a lot back in the early 80s. I would love to have one now to wear. That one is beautiful!

tapestry, I couldn't find any.. information on the Holy Clothing web site about laundering instructions. I really liked the skirts but need to know how to take care of them. |

I'd like to give my hand at a sew a long. I love prarie type skirts...you'll find me out and about at home....in the garden and about town in one. Much more character then just jeans and a T. Not that I don't wear them too but I love the "girlie" feeling and freedom of a swishy skirt. Of course its usually a pair of cowgirl boots peeking out from underneath!

I have taken some jeans with all elastic waist and cut them off just above the crotch and added fabric ruffles....it looks great! wanna see a pic?

For the patchwork just measure fabrics in about 12 inch squares and sew them together. I would say that the top part-waist and hip--could be all one print.
Does this look easy enough for everyone?
