Of course this whole topic really concerns many more companies than just Avon, but this particular article is specifically centered on that one company. Phenoxyethanol is the one that scares me ... =8-o

Posted - Jan 26 2010 : 8:10:33 PM I find my eyes itch pretty bad whenever I were eye makeup. All different brands not just Avon. I like Avons selection and the prices are good but if it's bad for you then it's not worth it. Guess my search continues to find something to help my poor acne uneven skin toned face. |

Posted - Jan 25 2010 : 03:46:29 AM And Brooke,
I'd really be curious to see if your symptoms lessen any if you stop using the Avon.
I'm not surprized at all you might would have a reaction.
Very interesting
Did any of you use Clarion? They wern't "all natural", but I had always likes their stuff, and like all good things, it too went by by |

Posted - Jan 25 2010 : 03:43:50 AM A few years ago I bought some Avon eye liners and shadows
Will have to check too.
Maybe thast's why I sometimes get headaches...mostly on sundays when I go to church and have to put on a face.
Stopped using foundation years ago, thank goodness
And recently threw out a bunch of Olay body washes that have petrolium in them. No wonder there was a sheen in my tub and an oil slick That's just gross. Is also why I don't use regualr main stream hand lotions either.
I Need to go back to Earth Fare and restock on all my beauty and skin stuff |

Posted - Jan 24 2010 : 9:31:43 PM Most natural foods stores also carry make-up without the harmful ingredients. I don't wear much make-up so I can't think right off hand of any names--I think Aubrey Organics and Kiss My Face sell cosmetics. cindy |

Posted - Jan 24 2010 : 5:39:19 PM Yes Alee I have tried it. I only got so-so results from it. My husband also complained about the smell and the last time I tried it I was left with a burn mark on my cheek that took a week and a half to heal. Thankfully I wasn't left with a scar. I'm not completely sold on it. I personally believe it's one of those things that works well for some and not so well for others. |

Posted - Jan 24 2010 : 06:37:08 AM Ok, I know this is a late post to this topic but I haven't been on the boards in a while.
Now I'm really mad. I order from Avon from time to time. I love their bug sprays and sunscreens and I just found the Clearskin Professional acne treatment kit and have been using it with really good results. It does have a lot of bad stuff like parabens and other 'fillers'.
Anyone have any suggestions for good acne treatment that is more friendly? I don't want to continue using Avon if it's that bad. Like LakeOntarioFarmgirl, I also use Mary Kay too!! Is anything safe anymore? Geez. |

Posted - Nov 12 2009 : 6:55:33 PM No, Brenda, I've never seen that particular entity, but I habitually check with the EWG (environmental working group) or the OCA (Organic Consumers Ass'n) when I wanna buy stuff for hair or skin. I figger my liver has enough to do without overloading it with toxic stuff on purpose!
But I'm gonna bookmark that link of yours and check it out when I have a little more time. Thanks for posting!

P.S. Did you ever find that article you were looking for re: vaccinations I'm still looking because I think I may know which one you were talking about, but so far I've had no luck locating it. I wish a general web search would reveal something but it didn't (at least not for me). So much of this stuff is hush-hush and on the downlow. Shame, that. That's why so few people really understand the problems. It's the collateral damage that worries me, especially with children and pregnant ladies. No one has any idea what might transpire 20 or 30 years down the road, sorta like the polio shots. eeps.

Posted - Nov 12 2009 : 3:59:51 PM I was shocked this summer to find out all the junk that was in my beloved Mary Kay products!!! I've thrown out/used up/given away a lot of my beauty products since then. Deb have you ever seen Campaign for Safe Cosmetics? They have wonderful articles, studies and a neat search engine, where you can plug in anything skin, hair products, etc. that you are using, and they are rated from 1 to 10, with 10 being the worse. Then they tell you what is in these products. I never buy anything anymore without checking with them first!!
