Posted - May 16 2013 : 1:02:49 PM BTW, If any of you have not checked out PaganPages.org I highly recommend it! I have been a contributing writer for almost three years and the vibe is lovely. Susan Weed contributes as well. My heading is Interweavings. This year I am writing about compiling a Book of Seasons. A companion style book to a Book of Shadows. I have had a Book of Seasons since my children were little. It was the place I collected ideas, recipes and notes on celebrating each month in general and special quarter and solstice gatherings. Last year I wrote on 12 Values and how they relate to my path of spirituality and prompts for reflecting. I'm procrastinating writing next month's piece as we speak! Ah, the internet. So much time, so little work ; )

Posted - May 14 2013 : 09:56:18 AM it seems that after the first few inches, i make a boo-boo that just can't be fixed. and then i have to begin again. it is a little bit frustrating. that or i get offers of "help" from the cat sitting on my lap. i keep plugging away at it. i love the felling of creating too much to give up. now if i can just get back into sewing as well.......

Posted - May 12 2013 : 6:54:54 PM Charlotte, I find that patience is my worst enemy in life! LOL! I know what you mean about getting past the first 5 inches or so. It's the same with knitting lace - I'm all excited to start and it goes quickly at first, and then it is a CHORE to work through the middle section ; ) Oh, and Lilburn is 30 min. outside of Atlanta in the eastern burbs. It's been an actually nice spring this year with cool weather and rain. Usually we are already cranking up the air conditioner and closing up the house. I have hope for a milder summer.

Posted - May 09 2013 : 1:21:12 PM Thanks Sheena and Charlotte. The shield of Athena is a meditation based on Athena that Leonie Dawson leads. It is a representation of the amazing attributes of Athena placed into a shield to remind us of the power within us. And being a Celtic gal, the tree of life pops up everywhere for me! I love weaving trees within willow branch circles! And Charlotte I find I can do most any form of handwork, with the exception of tatting! I can needle tat with no problem, but put a shuttle in my hand and I'm all knots! Bobbin lace is next on my wish list of learning!

your shield is beautiful, i love the colors. i am currently learning to tat, and you are so right Dana, there is so much peace in crafting, creating and being in the moment. i need to work on accomplishing this so much more than i do right now.

Posted - May 09 2013 : 05:49:56 AM Dana, that is beautiful! I am not familiar with the shield of Athena (although I know plenty about Athena in general), so I hope this won't be offensive, but before I read that it was the shield of Athena, I thought it reminded me of the Tree of Life (I'm an Irish girl, so those things come to mind often). Your work is quite beautiful! |

Posted - May 08 2013 : 6:43:39 PM Merry Meet! Well, it's been forever since I have peeked in here and chatted! Life! I have midwifed my mother through her end of life and on to the next and finished 17 years of homeschooling. Time to reflect, let go and create new intent. Perfect Spring work : ) Does anyone here weave? I find handwork of any kind brilliant and am never without knitting. I am working with weaving as a meditative/prayer process. Weaving for the sake of being in the moment and bringing intent or focus to the piece I'm doing. Things like prayer flags that I hang outside or mandala's woven on hula hoops or wreath forms. Anyone else use handwork in their spiritual work? Since I believe every breath is a prayer, I believe anything created from our hands is powerful and so I find such peace in creating.
