Oh Claudia, amen and amen!!! I am always second guesing whether 'this time' I am worthy of His help and guidance once again?? Yet, time and time again He never fails!! Now, that does not mean that I am always going to 'agree' with the answer He gives me? Or do I always see what the answer meant right away, or ever? But time and time again He is faithful despite my fear or doubts! And usually when I do see the results of His answer that confused me? WOW, I am blessed to see His miracles and His grace over and over again!!

I need to work on my faith and trust daily, minute by minute. I think I am most like Peter and 'doubting' Thomas!

Sooo grateful the Lord is patient with us!!

Blessings, Linda

If there are no other comments on Matthew, I would like to move on to Mark 8. There are many gems in these passages, but I just want to pick out one....blindness. There were 2 types of blindness prtrayed here...those of the disciples and that of the blind man. The blind man was physically blind for some reason...maybe it was cataracts, or from a disease. We don't know why, but after a 2 step process, the man could see perfectly. On the other hand, Jesus chides the disciples because He had performed miracles of feeding thousands with small amounts of bread and fish. He asked...Do you not remember? Good grief! And yet again, they doubted. Good grief...that's me. I have time and time again seen God come through with miracles saving me and those I love, but in the midst of a present turmoil, I start doubting again. Will God hear my prayers, will He make me wait or change the outcome that would be extremely detrimental. I sometimes doubt aht the heavens are made of brass, or God is too busy to answer my prayers. Where are the bread & fishes from my past? Do I need to be reminded again and again? I definitely am no different than those who walked with Him. These are good verses for me to meditate on lest I forget again.

We're back and had a wonderful time. Very relaxing.

Back to the scripture - I sure hope I just "know" when God talks to me. And I really hope that if/when He talks to my DH that I listen and trust him, too.
I guess I've figured out (and you probably have, too ) that I have trust and control issues. Baby steps. Knowing the issues allows me to deal with them.
Looking forward to more...

Staci, have a good time on your camping trip!
I too would have had so many more questions, but maybe they just knew that it was right. They didn't need to question Jesus, they just knew. Something to ponder about!

Staci, have a great time! In the bible we get a sense of just the kind of presence of Him? Like when He wrote something in the sand and those ready to throw stones at the woman quietly walked away. I wonder if that was perhaps the case with the fishermen? That in the beginning, before allowing their human ways and doubt to kick in, they just knew to follow this Man? That deep in their faith, by His presence alone, somewhere deep inside , they just knew?! Gives me chills just to imagine what it must have been like to walk and talk with Him side by side! Yes, Angie - I would definitely need more, too... and we're not talking about single men here (at least I don't think they were all single, I'm pretty sure Peter's wife is mentioned somewhere later). Not sure how I'd react if my DH came home and said, "Guess what...". Well, maybe I can imagine and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the model of the good, Christian wife.

Well, ladies just when I jump back in, I'm going to have to jump back out for a few days. My 15y/o DD and I are leaving today for a long anticipated camping weekend. We're going to try it on our own for a coupla days and then my sweet DH and maybe even my DS will join us for the last night.
I look forward to picking up this thread when I get back.

What's interesting is, that it appears the fishermen did not question "why" they should go and I cannot imagine what other's around them must have thought! (If there were others)
I feel like there should be more to this but I imagine that is because I would need more yes?
Who are you?
Where are we going?
Why?
Will we be back?
But no mention of any of this. Just amazing.

I agreee that everyone is fearful of the unknown, and that may be why some people are resistant to letting God take the reins.
Staci, sometimes I struggle with just letting things go as well. You're definitely not alone!

That is where the fear and control issues rear back up - oh, to be able to make my flesh submit. This is the battle I am always fighting. To follow and not run ahead to try to fix things. It's so pointless and silly - because He has proven Himself to me in many different ways. I just don't seem to grasp it - at least not as an initial reflexive action. I always eventually remember to turn to Him but I want it to be my first thought not my "oh, yeah, you should pray about this, now that you've spent hours worrying about it and trying to think of a solution."
anyhoo... Thankfully He has been very patient with me and is so good.

Ladies, prayers as each of us deal with life and all it can bring! Although these verses seem simple and to the point? It is powerful. As has been said, would we do that ourselves so easily? The Lord over the last several years has been showing my family and I exactly this. It isnt't easy at times and it is for sure scary at times. Yet He wants our TOTAL surrender to HIM. Very much for us to 'Let go and Let God' as is said. Believe me, I don't say this litely! I go kicking and screaming as He guides me to trust Him completely. Often times it is a process in letting go and trusting completely. But, especially over the last few years, He has shown my family A LOT! There have been family members who have come to know the Lord (that we NEVER thought it would really happen), very bad marriages healed, provisions both physical and emotional. I dont even have the space to share it all. Now also, its not been all sunshine and roses! With the economy and poor life choices, there have been homes lost, jobs lost, hard times. Yet, He keeps showing us to let go of it all and 'follow Me'. It is never easy? It is our human nature, I think, to be fearful of what we cant control. But when I see His work, His plans unfolding? It is not necessarily easy? Yet it is always better!! I am so very grateful for His never ending grace, mercy, and patience with me! Blessings, linda www.scatteredlittleblessings.blogspot.com

Megan, that is good! If we looked for our little abundances, we might be happier, and possibly so would the world. It now is such a negative unhappy place, we need to see what you just saw. thank you again.

Claudia, you kind of got me thinking of something. Jesus is calling us not only to follow Him, but to see the little abundances. I think that an abundance can be seen in a beautiful sunny day, or a hug from a loved one. It is not just in material/monetary things.
Angie, I think this verse is a great example of obedience!

Thank you Angie. There are so many out of work, needing to pay bills, get their kids ready for school & feeling embarrassed cuz what they can do is little compared to others. They hear the tickling of their ears from the politicians that promise a new way, or the right way, or the continued way to end economic chaos, & for us to have a "living." Jesus said to follow...seemed like He would provide everything. There is a dear sweet sister that I love here who with her husband has prayed & waited on the Lord to provide what is necessary for them. I bet there has been many changes in their hears, their needs, their attitudes & lives. Maybe that is what Jesus meant when He said that He came to give life & more abundantly. May we recognize what is abundance. Blessings on each of your days.

It's so nice to see everyone here, and encouraging each other. These surely are trying times and overwhelming for us all, but when we can come together snd study the Word we are reassured that when all around is in chaos, His word remains constant and unchanging.

Regarding our current verse: Matthew 4 18-22. i read this and thought, "hm, okay, that's nice' and wasn't sure how much i could glean from it but what i did get was this, the obedience of the fishermen who Jesus called. They just upped and dropped their nets and left with him! Whoa! Would I just up and leave everything if he called me? I honestly don't know. Would/will I recognize if and when he were to call me? Don't know. Something to ponder and pray about.

Hi Claudia! I'm so glad to be back and hope that I can just be here more. Seems like the past 6 months have just been a painful time of changes for my DH and I as we've walked through the loss of two jobs for him. He is working again now and I know we're blessed to say that in this economy. My job is having it's own turbulent times as both our lead pastor and worship leader resigned in the past 2 months. Life has been busy with kids, gardening and all the usuals ,too. Just didn't seem to have the oomph to get myself to the forum and then felt guilty that I would just be letting people down. So "cutting off my nose to spite my face" as my dear GM used to say.
So, I KNOW that I need deep time in the Word again. Glad to see your sweet presence here as well as so many of the others and "newer" faces. Looking forward to the company, prayers and fellowship.

Oh Charlene, it must be so sad to be troubled with such a problem. I was struck by the words you said that you don't owe that much. It reminded me of a program I listen to frequently from Moody called "Crown Ministries." It was once headed by Larry Burkett until he passed away. There is call-in info and if you go to the website, (http://www.crown.org/)there are financial Christian counselors listed for your area of the country. I would surely hate to see you throw away what you have if there is another way to keep it. They will not allow you to loose your shirt. Hopefully this is a suggestion and a help. You most certainly have my prayers.

I would like to ask for prayerS with Something I have struggled with for a couple years now. I think I need to Sell my small farm in Northern Michigan and just get out. I don't know if I should let it just go for what I owe (which isn't that much) or just let go and leave. I ask for prayers of wisdom and knowledge in this time of heartache I can not think clearly. Thank You, Charlene
