We thought there were no more alligators in the lake. Last week I saw two of them.
Tomorrow, we are getting in the boat to go out to the islands in the middle of the lake. We'll set poles with chicken parts handing on a line with a hook. Hopefully we can catch the alligators, before they catch my four outside cats. One of my four outside cats, Pepper, just loves to hunt around the lake at dusk. Not good.
If you are a praying person, please pray that we can catch this alligators.

I love Troy Landry!!! He is a gentleman. Lora, gator meat is very tasty. I agree. Next time we have lots of gator meat to cook, I'll let you know.

Wow, Marly - Gators are scary, but tasty. Stay safe! I just had to laugh though on the comment about Choot 'em....I think Troy is my favorite on that show. I would love to come down and watch them bring in the gators to the market.

We haven't seen any alligators lately. With hurricane season here, that may change. If hurricanes come near our area in SW Louisiana, the water will rise and if there are any alligators in the river, they'll come in the lake through the canals. We always keep an eye out for them. Usually, my cats, are the ones to give us a clue that there may be an alligator near by. The cats will get all jumpy and keep looking in the lake area.

Haven't heard anything in a while, any more alligators lately. You were smart to throw the stones or your cats may have been dinner. |

You're right about that, Laura. Alligators hunt mostly at night. I hear them mostly at night. I think that we have got most of the alligators out of the lake. Of course, when the water in the river is high, they can always come in the lake. Because of my outside cats, I am always looking and listening. Thanks for your comments.

Wow that gator was schemin. They probably have a way of sneaking up on things too, sort of quiet like, not get everything off guard as much as some of the other type predators. Gives me the willies sort of...Lol...I bet you keep your guard up when you go outside at night too.

Laura, I'm always on the watch for any alligator, small or large, because of my four outside cats. Once I was outside and saw a large alligator in the middle of the back yard, and all four cats were sleeping on their backs napping under the camper. That scared me so much. Of course, when I started throwing things at the alligator, the cats went into their hiding places.

I'm glad to have mountain lions and bears instead of gators just cause if we lived close to gators my kids would have probably been catchin them all the time. My kids were always the ones that would run to the snake while everyone else was runnin the other way....sheesh. You get them gators Marly!

Yes, Carol, the baby was brought with the mother alligator. We haven't seen any others in the lake, but we're always looking. Last night, I heard what sounds like an alligator. My outside cats always let me know when there is something hanging around the lake. Thanks for asking about the baby alligator.

Yup, Marly, you got it! That's why my hubby totes a rifle when he goes to check on his cows, especially now with a new calf in the pasture.
Yes, lions can run fast . . . and they are stunningly beautiful. One thing about them is they are LESS likely to come close to the house . . the bears don't seem to care.

CJ, I'd be concerned about the mountain lions. I know alligators can run fast, but I bet those mountain lions can run faster. I'd love to see a mountain lion.

Even though they may be dangerous to us or our critters, I hate to think of the distress of that baby alligator looking for its momma...hope they catch it soon and reunite it with its family.

I have to tell you Marly, that the idea of alligators is a whole different world for us. We live southwest Colorado and have to be on the watch for mountain lions (my hubby saw fresh tracks just a few days ago), bears who are starting to come out of hibernation, and coyotes who are ALWAYS present.
We KNOW the bears have been in our yard . . . as my hubby says, "an awfully big carnivore to be that close to the house".

The other bigger alligator is now relocated to a better place; an alligator farm. One of the two baby alligators is also at the alligator farm where it will grow up. There is only one small alligator in the lake. We're having a rough time trying to catch the thing. I believe it's trying to find it's moma, so it's hiding when it hears voices. Hopefully, by the end of the week that baby alligator will be with the others.
