Hi girls!

So, this morning I go to my mailbox to find a plain envelope addressed to me, with big letters on it that read, "Cards inside. Please do not bend."

I'm thinking to myself, "What the hey-dee-oh-hey? I didn't sign up for anything!"

Feeling a bit perturbed, I open the envelope... Can you guess what I found inside?

Oh... my.... STAAAAAAAARS!!!

IT WAS MY AARP CARDS!!!!

LOL!!!

Yep, I guess it's official... Before we know it, I'll be able to jump onto the "Over 50 Farmgirls" strain!!! LOL!

You know what really cracked me up? When it was my husband turning 50, HIS cards were sent (without request, of course, like mine!) in a bright envelope with AARP proudly stamped all over it with bright red, white and blue stripes! SO, let me get this straight... For a man, it's a celebratory time, akin to the 4th of July! But for a woman, they keep everything hush hush and slip you a plain envelope... Geez!

Well, that's okay! I'll be 50 soon, and I'm thrilled to have made it! Look out 60... I'm heading your way!!! LOL!

Have a great day girls! Remember: it's not the number of years, it's the quality of days!

Hugs and love -

Nini

LOL! DL!!! That's HILARIOUS!!!

Thanks, Alicia!

THANK YOU, Winnie!!!

Yes, Bonnie, I do wonder!!! And I don't consider either one of us old! Just well seasoned, like a fine wine! ;)

Denise, that's too funny! I would've fainted had I received it at 45! But how great not to have the monthly mailer reminders now! :)

I like that, Marie... Being considered an elder respects our wisdom, our years, our lives, our inner beauty... who we are! I like that VERY much!

Hugs -

When I turned 50, I wasn't all that happy. Once I was standing at a bus stop with a bunch of high school kids out for the day. They were talking trash and teasing each other until one girl said, "Hey guys, watch your mouth around your elders." and she looked at me. They all straightened up and I felt great. I like being an elder.

Gosh when they sent me an envelope to join up I had not yet hit 45 so I called them and told them they needed to wait because I wouldn't be eligible to join yet.
Creeping into my mid 50's now and haven't heard a peep yet. LOL!

Nino, don't you wonder what century the originator of that ridiculous decision was from? I'm 73 and I still don't consider myself old! DL I love the horse' expression. I'll laugh with you.

Three cheers for your milestone!! This post was a hoot!

LOL! Bonnie! I'm glad I'm not alone!

Thanks, Krista! You know, I honestly believe life should be celebrated every step of the way! Who cares about the number?! This is just another reason for cake and ice cream - and maybe a slightly bigger piece to boot! LOL!

Women typically don’t like to share their age with the world so I bet that is why your envelope was plain and boring. But I have to admit I would much rather get the bright red, white, and blue stripes! If I’m turning 50 I want to make a big deal, not be ashamed. Enjoy it Nini!

Oh Nini, that is hysterical. Just as I reacted when I got the same mail.
