I am excited to begin working on my merit badges and sharing my experiences with everyone! After much debating I was finally able to pick the top 4 badges I plan to accomplish first!
I chose….

1.Pampered Pets (Outpost)
-It’s important to me that my pets are healthy and will live a long happy life. Knowing what is best for them will allow me to enhance their life.

2. Bread Making (Farm Kitchen)
-I have always enjoyed cooking and now look forward to a better way of cooking.

3. Embroidery (Stitching and Crafting)
- Would love to make something special for my baby boy just like my Grandma Butters made for me.

4. Water Conservation (Cleaning Up)
- I love the idea of helping save the planet as well as help me save money on my bill.

With that in mind, what merit badges do you fellow farmgirls plan on accomplishing first? Or working towards right now? Any of them hold a special meaning that drives you to accomplish one over another?

Much luck and enjoyment in your merit badge experiences!

Way to go Denise! You are on a roll!

Nancy, I hope you can get it figured out.

Heather, that's awesome you have more to apply for. I am getting ready to start a couple of the garden badges.

I need to sit down and apply for some more - always the hardest part for me :)

Thanks, Krista! That is my next step. I thought that the problem was fixed because the last two times I did receive my emails.

I just got my three levels for the My Fair Farmgirl badge. I'm working on reading a book and doing some handwork. As soon as I finish I will get those applied for too.

Nancy, I am sorry that happened. I personally haven't had that happen. Have you tried sending an email to the Farm?

Hi, All! Those are some really great projects...they are inspiring me to keep working on my Badges!
I have a question. Is anyone else having problems getting their certificates and badges emailed? I was, but I thought that it had been fixed. I was awarded two badges on April 2nd, and I have not received an email. I saw that the two badges were posted, so I have been looking for my email. I checked my Junk mail because that was the problem last time.

I now have my macrame cord! I am hoping to sit down this weekend and learn some new stitches and make the keychains. I'm also down to only 40 pages left in my book and I can apply for another badge. How are your badges coming along?

Thank you Denise and Jill.

Jill I helped my dad make a macrame plant holder back when I was in middle school. I don't remember anything from it, so I am relearning. It has been fun.

Those look great Krista, another skill I'd like to revisit. We did a unit on macrame in grade 8 art class, but I haven't tried since then. I have two glass floats and bought the yarn to make supports to hang them, but it's going to have to wait for me to clear my plate a bit.

Those are great bracelets Krista. I love macrame. My sister taught it to me when I was around 12.

Debbie,
I will be gifting them.

I started working on the beginner macrame badge. I had some paracord on hand and decided to try the cobra weave. I have seen bracelets made out of this for years, but never learned how to make one. So I watched a video to learn and made 3. One for each of my older kids. I still have more time to invest, so I will make some keychains with macrame cord.

Those are gorgeous, Denise. I'm going to go away next week for a few days, I think I'll pack some embroidery with me(as well as my knitting, of course). Thanks for the inspiration.

Jill,
For my second badge I just did simple stitching of fruit on a set of dish towels.

Wow, Denise, you're getting a lot accomplished. That must feel so good. Can we see pictures of your embroidery? That's on my to-do list.

I applied for and received my second in embroidery. Yesterday I applied for all 3 in recycling. Slowly working through my planner. I plan to work on my last embroidery and start the letter writing badges this week. I am enjoying all the fun I am having doing and accomplishing these badges.

Joanne, what a great idea! I like the idea of embellishing along the way! Looking forward to seeing yours as you go along.

I have some of those spools and have lace wrapped on all of mine. The shorter one in the front with the black ribbon on it is not actually a spool but a hog scraper I found in an antique store.

I applied for another badge! I applied for the families forever beginner badge. Now on to my next badge. I am thinking either mosaics or macrame. And then it will be time to start on the outside badges.

I had an idea come to me yesterday as to how to display my badges . I am going tp embroider them and then sew them to a vintage or interesting fabric . Then I will attach the base fabric to an old Antique Wooden Spool. Make a type of sewing roll. That way I can add more badges as I earn them . I also want to embellish the roll with whatever is moving me creatively. If that makes any sense. Pictures of what I mean to be posted at a later time. Here is a photo of several of my antique wooden spools.

Great job Denise! I was thinking of maybe trying that badge this year.

Shenandoah, I know what you mean. I have a UFO like that too. I think I finally figured out the correct technique. I just haven't had the desire to rip it all out and start again lol!

Jill, that is awesome! I would love to learn how to make chocolates too!

Krista

Good work everyone! You've all been so busy. I did attend the chocolate webinar and I have the book on an inter-library loan right now for Level One Carpe Cocoa. It's going to have to go back soon, so I'll have to hurry up with it. I see there is a similar book in a local bookstore, so I may pick that up. I'm not sure it's good for me , but I'd really like to learn to make chocolates. They would be lovely gifts. All I've done before this is take the big blocks that you can buy and melt it to fill molds. Fun but really doesn't take much knowledge.
