Several years ago, a handful of us MJF gals had a couple of 'mini apron' swaps... and oh what fun...
I still us mine for decorating around my trailer when I am decorating in the farm girl style...

this was our western/country girl apron swap.

I made lil denim ones....
We did a Halloweenie one and a non-themed one... I really should bring them all out and decorate with them on my 1st glamping trip of the summer,,, or just decorate around the kitchen with them,, like a valance above my kitchen window,,,

Linda, right now I have problems with bad tennis elbow in both elbows and activities that involve using my hands aggravates my arms. I am getting physical therapy but that takes time. I had signed up for two swaps in our henhouse and that has been more than enough to do. Getting old is no fun!!

These mini aprons are the cat's meow!! Gosh Grace, you have some wonderful collections of them for all seasons too. Denise, I love how you have yours in your sewing room. You all are going to laugh, but this is the first time I ever heard about mini aprons or even knew people did them. Hmmmm, where have I been? Hiding in some book, most likely!@! LOL!!

ok,, so let me share with you...
One late summer I was Glamping with some gal~pals down in Prosser WA... we were out and about in town and I stepped into a cute shop,,,
I spotted toward the back a banner of mini aprons hanging.... upon closer look,,, I spotted one of my aprons,,, and to be sure I peeked into the pocket and yep,,, there was my note w/my name... I went to the register and spoke with the shop owner, asking how she came about the apron banner,,, then showed her my apron w/my note in it...
What were the odds of being in a swap only to happen upon a shop and seeing the banner on display...

Shannon,, there are so many different ideas,,, you can make simple 'diner' style (think old time waitress 1/2 circle) aprons or gathered waist aprons or bib style aprons or what ever you are comfortable with.
the waist is up to you. I made 1/2 of my aprons w/a slight gathered 4" waist and the other half with a 3" gathered waist...
I added pockets to tuck in my lil note but you certainly can take a different approach and just safety pin you lil note... by note I mean a lil something that has your name and aka.... even a tiny hug or what ever.

Kat - What do you think? Would you please measure the waist length of the apron (not including ties) and the lower edge so people have an idea? Thanks!

Denise - love the aprons!!!

Okay ladies - help me out! The size issue is playing on my mind! With having a certain width, should that be the gathered part on the top? Trying to figure out how to draw out my pattern and plan this!!! THanks :)

Deb, aprons regular or mini...are a good introductory item to sew... the simple 1/2 or diner style as I like to call them... are 'sew ' easyfor the beginner.
sew girlie... have fun... don't worry about being fussy ... just have fun.

Oh my goodness. My sewing skills is basically non existant. While my mom was an "older" mom, I was her baby so she would sew things for me but never taught me to sew. When I was pregnant with my first daughter I asked her to teach me to sew because I wanted some maternity tops. A couple days later she comes to my house with 4 maternity tops she "whipped up". Then we moved away and if I wanted to sew I hand sew but still don't get my stitches even. That's why I LOVE embroidery, to try to get them even. I think I'm going to learn alot being here.

I woke up in the middle of night as I am prone to do and laid there for two hours before going back to sleep. But the time was not wasted. I designed my first mini-apron in my head. It will be a hybrid designed so I can work around the difficulties I have with dealing with MS. I will gather the waist and sew on the waistband/ties and pocket by hand. The hem and side seams will be glued with white glue. The design is an egg gathering apron which was our official apron for last year's Jubilee. The second apron will be the official apron from 2015 Jubilee. I hope we have an official apron for this year. If so I want a mini apron to match. If not I will think of an design for it.

Planning on doing three aprons for banner. I'll finish it out with mini-tea towels. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of mini-tea towels. The banner will go in my china cabinet to replace the one I did in the fall.
