I was almost ready to plop out $40 for a fancy Envelope board to make envelopes and boxes. But being the thrifty farmgirl that I am, I kept searching......

I found a website that has both a envelope and box generator.
http://www.thecraftyowl.co.uk/EnvelopeExpert/
I also found this direction sheet for a different style envelope.
http://www.scor-apl.com/envelope/Scor%20Pal%20Envelope%20tutorial.pdf

I have a simple paper cutter, that I also use to score things, until I find a nifty scoreboard at the thrift or a sale.
So I have $40 in my pocket and the thrill of not wasting that money!

I always just made my envelopes out of computer paper. I make cards so I would just center my card on the paper and make tick marks a bit bigger that the corners if the card and draw or could trace the four flaps like a standard envelope and used sticky tape used in card making to fold and secure flaps. Very easy and certainly cheap. I use 1/2 sheet of standard card stock paper folded in 1/2 to make a card and it fits fine in an envelope made with standard computer paper.

Bridgette,,,
I too hated the thought of shelling out $$ for a envelope template... when it occurred to me to just use a store bought envelope, (like from an old birthday card) unassembled it,,, trace it onto cardstock and use it as my template,,, then I went one step further and used gift wrap cut to fit just the top to bottom of the envelope and w/a glue stick it to the envelope before I score and fold and glue... that way the envelope has a nice lining and when the recipient opened the envelope the flap part is pretty too!
If you are using bits -n- pieces of wrapping paper,,, just cut a pc to fit the shape of the flap inside...

and use I have made envelopes from gift wrap and use those 1 1/2 x 3 blank adhesive labels to write the recipient's name and address on...

Gotta luv scrap paper... :>)
