Happy Monday Farmgirls and I hope everyone has been having fun this month with our Apple Festival! Just a reminder that our Annual Farmgirl Apple Pie Sunday celebration is coming up this coming weekend on September 30!!

In the past Farmgirls have chosen Apple Crisp, Apple Cake, Apple Bread or many other ways that Apples can be enjoyed as a dessert. So, the possibilities are endless!!

I hope you will share your plans with us here all week so that there can be new ideas to inspire you!

Right now, I am vacillating between a traditional Apple Pie or Apple Crisp. I love them both!

MaryJane, I have been using pumpkin spice in my diffuser for over a week now! It helps it feel more like fall. Plus it's calming to me.
My kids are doing great. Tilton has become so helpful and asks to help me with everything! Especially the dishes. Stryder is learning so many new words and is a dancing king. Also, I am in love with playing dress up everyday with Everleigh! Having a girl is so much fun!
My dad did great and really enjoyed having them. He bought one of those child carriers that hook on behind your bike and he took the boys everywhere in that thing. They loved getting outside and spending time with grandpa!

Winnie, I haven't ever tried pumpkin spice coffee. I'll have to give it a try. I actually haven't been a coffee drinker until recently so I'm branching out!

MaryJane, that apple bread braid is a work of art! I bet it was delicious too.

I am currently in Asheville, NC this morning and it is a bit cooler here than Florida. There are signs that the leaves are beginning to change but mostly the leaves are still green. On our trip up here, we went through the far eastern part of Georgia and although it was a hot day, there were many farms where they decorated the entrances with lots of hay bales, pumpkins, scarecrows and the like. Also saw lots of pumpkin stands along with tomatoes and other fall like veggies.

Pumpkin Spice is always on this Farmgirl's list of favorites! I am especially enjoying Pumpkin Spice Coffee blends at my favorite grocer too. Nothing better than PS coffee to start the day in late July when you feel like you are going to lose your mind with the awful heat and humidity!! LOL!! I always freeze a bag of PS coffee to keep for those late July attacks!! LOL!! This year Dunkin Donuts has a good PS blend on most grocery store shelves that sell DD coffees. Do any of you like PS coffee?

Thanks Heather, you pie looks wonderful and I know it tasted wonderful!

Mary Jane, I too, am ready for all things Pumpkin Spice! and Fall!!

Grace, My stars was right, wouldn't that have been fun to have a taste of each one!

Thanks Winnie! I love those dishes, they are heavy so they can take bumps without breaking! They are called Farm to Table from Cracker Barrell! I got them on sale a few year ago. I love to browse the gift shop there. They have great sales!

I'm so in the mood for pumpkin spice now, I put it in my aromatherapy diffuser a few minutes ago.

How are your kids doing, Krista? Did gramps Rex do okay being a full-time caregiver while you were in Europe?

Love your grammy graphic Winnie.

As it turns out, Ashley had snapped a few photos of the making of her braided apple bread.

Connie, great idea! Pumpkin spice would taste amazing with it! I think I'll try some like that next weekend.

Thank you Winnie. It's always a plus when the kids ask for seconds. Makes me feel really happy inside!

Krista, your Apple Muffins look delicious and I bet they were a wonderful breakfast treat for the family too!!

Heather, that "criss-cross thing" turned out perfect!! What a beautiful pie you made!! Hehehe, I know how easy it is to what something as yummy as homemade pie ALL TO ONESELF!! LOL!! It vanishes so quickly, especially with creamy ice cream alongside! I am happy that your family were able to join in the fun of our Farmgirl Apple Pie Sunday too! Apple Pie is such an all-American dessert through the ages.

Thanks everyone for sharing your Apple recipes with all of us! I love to hear how each of you found what was perfect for you to use for the occasion. And, I get a big smile in my head when I think about all the Farmgirl friends busy creating apple goodies all dressed up in their favorite aprons!!

I wasn't able to get on the computer but I joined in the festivities!

This is the first time I ever made one with the "criss cross" thing on top. I think they should have been a little narrower, but the pie tasted great. The bad part about sharing a yard with your in-laws is that you have to share your apple pie. The good thing about sharing a yard is that you get ice cream to go with your pie LOL!!!

All those other treats look amazing as well.

Connie - some of my best tasting creations were the worst looking ones!

My boys and I decided to go with apple muffins and strudel topping! They were delicious! I want to make them again, but add something else to the batter to add more flavor. Not sure what yet. Maybe cinnamon? Also I will double the strudel topping!

Finally today, I can post photos of the fantastic Biscuit Apple Pie!! It was not only easy to make, but equally delicious. I made a half recipe because there are just the two of us, but this recipe would easily make a double batch as well for a crowd.

MaryJane, I love seeing Daisy's delicious creamy milk! Wow, it certainly is rich!! The Farmerette Apple Pie makers look like they did a fantastic job because the photos of your pie told the story of homegrown goodness in every bite!

Yum, your cheese on your slice looks perfect. I have grated my cheese on the top of my serving so that it could easily melt. What was your verdict about cheese vs sweet topping? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Connie, your apple pound cake looks mouth watering good! I love that cute plate that it sits on as well! I am so glad you felt well enough, despite your sore throat, to bake the cake and enjoy the apple goodness. You know an apple a day keeps the doctor away so hopefully that apple cake also was the perfect "medicine" for a sore throat!! LOL!! Works for me to eat cake for getting well!!

Thanks to everyone for sharing their fun day and celebrating in our Annual Farmgirl Festival!! I love our celebration together and I hope all of you did too!!

Winnie I made it!!
Mary Jane, your pies are beautiful! What fun to have your Grands for helpers! My Grand, Lily June loves to cook already at age 4! She will remind me if I forget her apron! Same here for us, great before bedtime snack! at 9:30 P.M we just had a piece of warm cake and our God-Son stopped by on his way home to Nashville, just in time to share a piece too! I packed him a piece to go for tomorrow. Farmgirl life happens, It stuck to the pan! That's my Great Aunt Mattie's tube pan, I have never had anything stick before! I use it a lot! I'm gonna havbe to bake a pie to redeem myself and while The farmstand has all those wonderful Apples! Got the Carmel icing dabbed on, looks so much better! My family said, they didn't notice it stuck because it tasted wonderful! It was good.

The girls did a fabulous job. Winnie, our Miss Daisy contributed the butter for the crust. Just look at the cream she gives us! (That's rosemary drying in the background.)

Yum!!!

And my piece with cheese all over it.

Good night all. Hang in there Connie. Apple dessert before bed? Yes!

I'm with you Connie. Our pies are still in the oven (first pies made by my grand girls--the going was slow). But now we all get a nice bedtime snack.

I'm gonna make it! I ploughed down deep in my Farmgirl spirit and got a Carmel Apple Pound cake in the oven. I will post pictures! I think I'll get them in by midnight! It's 8:30 pm here in West Tennessee. I wanted so to be a part of Apple pie Sunday! Our Jones farm stand has granny Smith and Fuji. It's just 2 miles from me so I made it there before dark! Back to the kitchen I go!

Oh Connie, I am so sorry to hear that you are sick today!! Hopefully, it isn't strep but if it is, an antibiotic will get it on the run within about 24 hours. Please take care! The Apple magazine from Linda looks wonderful! I bet it has a lot of delicious ways to use apples too!!

Denise, I know that Apple Crisp is delicious! You just can't go wrong with that choice any day of the year!!

Dawn, your apple pie is gorgeous!! Yum!

Sara, how neat it is that your apple mint gave your morning tea a new twist and was plentiful enough to make up a pitcher for ice tea later on. I bet your pie was delicious too and freezing some for later will be just the treat when you want a little something delicious in the future.

I will be making my biscuit apple pie for dinner time so I haven't baked it yet, but it won't be long!!

Thanks everyone for sharing!! I never tire of hearing about how others enjoy apples, apple stories, and of course trying new varieties of apples!

Everyone's apple creations sound so yummy.

I donned my apple pie Sunday apron at 5a.m. and made my pie. Must say the no roll crust is a hit with me. I used walnut oil in the crust to add to the flavors. I think walnuts and apples are a good mix.

Yes Winnie using my Jubilee apple mint added a little more "spice" to making the pie.

An added bonus to using dried apples was the tea made from hydrating the apples with apple mint, cinnamon stick, and whole cloves. I mixed a little of it in my Scottish Morning Tea. Have a pint of it in fridge to add to tea during the week. I'm trying to lose weight so I will either freeze most of the pie or better still my sisters will want some.

Good Morning everyone and Happy Farmgirl Apple Pie Sunday! Wow, Ashley, your Apple Bread looks quite delicious and of course photo perfect as well. I bet it was delicious this morning with hot coffee or tea too! MaryJane , would you please enjoy a slice for me?

Love that photo of the farm apples! What a glorious sight and it makes my mouth water thinking about biting into a big crunchy red orb!

Dawn, your celebration of fresh apple pie with cider sounds just Farmgirl perfect! What an awesome start to our annual celebration of Apple Pie Sunday here at MJF.

Sara, the ingredients to your apple pie sound so yummy! With the addition of your Farmgirl Jubilee Apple Mint herb, this recipe is carrying forward all things celebrated by many of us here at the Farm from May to September. I love that thread of continuity!

Hehehe, Grace, that snuggle addition with your “Apple of my eye”, sweetie is another way to celebrate today too!

A Happy early Birthday to our beloved Farmgirl Meg too. What a perfect way to kick off an upcoming special birthday. Who doesn’t love delicious sweets made with honest homegrown harvest from ones farm? Have a very happy birthday, Megan, and many many more!

MaryJane, yes please let me know how you enjoy using a good cheese on your pie instead of other topping options. What kind of flavor does Scarmoza cheese offer? And did my sweetest Daisy’s milk contribute? Hehe, instead of Alpine grass, my girl gets rich Palouse grass which I am sure is equally perfect for rich grass nutrition.

I am making Biscuit Apple Pie from MaryJane’s Cast Iron Cookbook . Yesterday I made my apple mixture using the apple pie filling recipe given. I chose tart Macintosh apples. It turned out delicious and is now ready to be the topping to my biscuit base. I can’t wait to try this out! I also got a very good aged cheddar cheese from Vermont to grate on top of my serving . I will post a photo later to show the results. It is 90+ again today but it is not going to dampen my enthusiasm for this Fall celebration at our Farm!

Happy celebrating Farmgirls however you choose! I would love to hear your comments and any possible photos of what you are doing. The perfect part of celebrating together is hearing from each of you.

Aprons ON a and let the apples fill this country with those cinnamon scents from coast to coast! What a glorious way to celebrate this season loved by so many of us here at MJF!,

Love your quote Dawn. And of course yours, Grace, such a wonderful old saying. Who hasn't heard those endearing words.

And here's the apple of my tummy--Ashley's breakfast wild-bread braided loaf, stuffed with apples.

More apple tummy yummies coming later today. Thank you Winnie for inventing such a wonderful celebration. It's especially special for us because Autumn is my daughter's favorite season. "The apple of my eye" was born the first of Oct., 39 years ago. So, celebrating this particular weekend by honoring apples (and the birth of Meg) is perfect.
