2018 NOV - SHILLYSHALLY SWAP

I am back yall!! It’s been a busy summer and eventful summer. After loosing a dear friend to cancer in August I returned home to my daughter-in-law’s hospitalization for complications during her pregnancy. She was one sick girl with pancreatitis, liver, and gall bladder issues. My granddaughter was born prematurely on Sept 8th and she was in NICU for the next 30 days. During this time I have been on Nana duty daily with my 16 mo old grandson. Our precious Mattie was not due until October 24th. She is home now and doing very well. She is a teeny little thing! My dil has since had gall bladder surgery and is recovering from that. I just have my Ollie for a couple of days a week now or whenever I am needed! Soooo… I am back to swapping with the Farmgirls!! Yay!

I use my Shilly’s daily!! Love them and they are so handy! Hope I have some Farmgirls interested in this swap!

~~~~~~~~~~
The ShillyShally Swaps are so much fun!
Here we go! Another swap for NOVEMBER! These are such nifty things to have around the house for so many uses!
For those wondering just what a ShillyShally is:
A ShillyShally you ask? Well it is simple! It is a 36x36 cut of fabric which can be used for cooling your neck to covering your lap whilst you shell peas! It can cover your head or it can be used to wipe little hands and faces! There are so many uses for a ShillyShally!
Each ShillyShally will be hemmed and the embellishing will be left to the receiver.
NOV THEME: Fabric with Brown....think leaves, pumpkins, fall!
FEB - Red
MAR - Green / Insects
APR - Blue / Showers
MAY - Purple / Flowers
JUN - Yellow / Sunshine
JUL - Red White Blue / Patriotic - cancelled
AUG - Beige / Pets - cancelled
SEP - Teal / Vintage - cancelled
OCT - Orange / Pumpkins -cancelled
NOV - Brown / Leaves, Harvest, Pumpkins, Turkeys
DEC - Christmas!
GUIDELINES FOR SHILLYSHALLY:
1. Choose a 36x36 piece of Cotton fabric. Prewash your fabric to cover any skrinkage prior to cutting so it will be true to size. Trim any selvage prior to hemming.
2. You will put a hem around the ShillyShally using embroidery, ribbon, rickrack, lace, decorative stitch, etc.
3. You will include 1-3 embroidery floss for your swap partner to use to embellish her ShillyShally
4. Please, no other tucks required. Let's keep it simple!
5. Please post pictures of your ShillyShally when you receive it so all the other Farmgirls can see our beauties!
Hey Marilyn,
I am okay. Life has been very busy. She is doing quite well after finally having the surgery she needed. She was one sick girl. Our little Mattie is five months old now and thriving. She was in nicu for at least 30 days. At about 3 months she developed rsv and thankfully it was not in her lungs. I have been helping out a lot with my little grandson as well. Right after Mattie was born I had Oliver everyday for almost 3 months so I didn't get much done in the way of Farmgirl stuff. So much has happened as well between now and then. Trying to get my routine back and get in my sewing room. Im learning to machine embroidery now and I am teaching myself how to Smock. How are you doing with all this cold wet weather?
Oh, and my youngest. After working in the 'fast food' industry he decided that was not for him! Lol! He is working at a automotive place now and feel in love with this trade and is planning to go to a tech school to learn more. He has finally found his niche! He did not want to go to college as much as I wanted him too! They have a mind of their own when they think they are grown! All my other sons have successful careers and I am sure my youngest will as well!
I took the receipt to my post office today and learned that your Shilly Shally had a long trip - stayed quite a while in North Houston and Houston and shows to have been delivered on Saturday the 17th. I hope you can find it.
Debbie - according to USPS tracking, it was delivered to you yesterday. It says it was put in the mailbox, but that isn't always so. I hope you can find it.
Leave it to the Mail Service - my receipt says it would be delivered 11/10/18 (2-days service) and when I put the number in on line it says it will be delivered TODAY! I don't know what calendar they are using.
Linda, I have not received your package? I checked my mailbox and the mail the boys brought in and alas it is not there. Just wanted you to know.
Hey Marilyn, you should hopefully receive yours by the end of this week :-)
I have done that Linda. Mine is a Bernina serger, that I bought back in the dark ages, probably 30 years ago. That was before they had one at walmart. It was awesome. But it has run too many million miles for me. I used to sew a lot of clothes for a sorority (often 40 or more dresses a rush season), fellow teachers, etc. I think I wore it out!
I am thinkinng I need a new Serger, too. Mine is working, now - I just rethreaded 3 of the 4 thread paths.In fact it is working quite well, but it is about 14-15 years old - from Walmart. The good ones are so expensive now. I wanted to purchasae my cousin's when she passed away - it was 1 year old and a very good Janome. Her husband sold it on Craigslist for less than I would have given him. GRRRRRRR!
Can you unthread yours, set all the knobs to the middle setting, and rethread? Would that give you any leeway for tension?
Perhaps you and I need to shop for sewing things. My serger is old. I had to completely rethread it. Of course I could not find the long tweezers that came with it, all those years ago. Now every tension is maxed out and still one thread wants to play loop de lou, on The bottom!
Debbie - your Shilly Shally went out today.
Marilyn - I got my Shilly Shally yesterday and I love the fall colors and the tea you sent. It looks like the tea is nestled in a bed of fallen leaves.
