Hi,
I just don't know what to do and thought maybe some of you wonderful ladies might have some suggestions.
I have two older cats. They are about 8 years old. Someone dropped off a young cat. She was starving so I fed her. Eventually she started to trust us, and she then introduced us to her 3 little kittens. We managed to get all 4 of them into the garage and once they were healthy. We had them fixed, shots, fleas, etc. I was able to find great homes for two of the little ones. No one has offered to take mom and the last kitten. They moved from the garage to our sunroom; and since it is now cold into the house.
My older cats hate them. We have baby gates up everywhere. Poor Winnie and Tigger (older cats) are living on the second floor and hiding under our bed for most of the day. The few times they have interacted it does not turn out well.
I just ordered some spray (Feliway) hoping that might help them get along.
I just do not know what to do to get them to at least tolerate each other. The problem is think that rough housing is fun. The other two are terrified. There is a lot of hissing and growling.
Any suggestions at all would be appreciated. I don't think I am going to be able to find them homes and don't want to take them to a shelter (even if they would take them).

Thanks for the encouragement. I hope it works out but I am just not sure. Yesterday for the first time ever one of the older cats used the carpet instead of the litter box. I am concerned that is a sign of stress. We have 4 litter boxes and one is on the second floor just for them so not having enough boxes is not the problem. I think she is justed stressed out. My heart breaks when I think of rehoming them to a stranger. the spray comes today so maybe that will help some.

We have a similar problem. A couple of kittens showed up right before Christmas two years ago. Cleo (8) and Cherokee (6) wanted nothing to do with Winston and Dolly. They still are not happy with them but they do stay in the same room sometimes. The little ones try really hard to make up. But put some treats out on the floor for them and they're all four there in two seconds. Sometimes I think it's like what my daughter told me one time, that she and her brother didn't fight if we weren't around it wasn't any fun. Good Luck. They will work it out.
