I have completed the Beginner level, Intermediate Level and Expert level for the Greatest Generation badge.
I have many elderly friends and of course my Mother who is now 76 years old. I have spent hundreds of hours helping them with various things but mainly just sharing conversation with them is what they like best of all. A listening ear.

I make meals for them and deliver to them just when they needed it the most. I recently helped set up Elder Services for my Mother whose health is failing. She is now on the wait list for assistance so she can stay in her own home.

Florida would rather help the elderly stay in their home and not be put in a nursing home. My husband does home repairs for her and will be remodeling her tub into a shower for her. He goes and makes her bed for her some days too. It's those little things that mean the most to her.

Another, elderly friend needed her carpet replaced so we did that too. I keep her company while my husband does all the heavy work. I make meals for her and deliver from time to time.
She has 7 fractures in her spine due to bone loss. We are glad to help our dear friends with whatever they need.

This badge is an important issue for everyone to think about. Like you say, we all get old and can be in great need during many life struggles. I know from my own experience that older people often feel abandoned and left out when their health fails and they can no longer do the activities they once enjoyed.Congratulations Marsha and Lori for doing these wonderful helping deeds. It also turns out that it is a great way to make new friends too!!

Ladies I have helped so many old people through the years that I am the old person now---LOL. A total of nine family and friends. They have all passed on and I am so glad I was there for them. Rock on girls and keep on being angels. Always remember time waits for no one and be kind to the elderly.

I am on my expert level on this badge. I have a dear friend that I spend time with. She was just put into a nursing home so I am going to go there to see her. I'm sure I will meet some others there that I would enjoy visiting with

That is so great Marsha! I bet your mother and elderly friend are super appreciative of all your hard work and company. Friendship is such an important aspect of life regardless of our age!
