Hi Friends,

The summer fruits are out and ready for picking, eating, canning or jam making. I look forward to berries, sweet melon, juciy peachs, nectarines and dark red cherries. The cherries at the small family owned market that I work at went on sale and with my employee discount card I bought about 7 lb. of local dark red cherry. I made 11, 8 oz. jars. I will be giving these out to family and friend at Christmas time. Please share with me your home made jam or fruit you have canned.

Yum! Cherry jelly is my favorite! I hound try to do that one day. I do a lot of strawberry and have made dandelion, plu,m, mint, and wineberry jellies. I also like to make dill pickles and spiced pears. I want to start canning soon this summer. Great job - yiour cans look great and my mouth is watering g!

Yummy jams are happening lately! Recently, I made some local Florida Wild Plum Jam. The tree blooms very early and sometimes we have a frost that kills all of the flowers and we have no fruit. But this year, we had a great harvest so I was happy to make some and stock up.

I wish I could have done some canning this spring but with packing and selling the house there wasn't any time. Friday, hopefully, is our last day. Keeping fingers crossed escrow was delayed twice so far.

Janice, the jars of jam look beautiful. I haven't made jam for so many years now. I am just getting back into doing this stuff again. There is something so fulfilling about canning, drying, and freezing things that make you feel good about yourself and what you are feeding your family. I always made a lot of strawberry jam when I made jam. My husband loves strawberry jam.

I personally haven't canned any jam but your dark red cherry jam sounds delicious!! That is definitely one I want to try if I make my own. Apricot jelly is my favorite fruit jelly. My father in law just gave us some rhubarb jelly. We haven't tried it yet, but I'm excited to add it to my toast this weekend.
