So I'm having a lot of fun making fabric mushrooms lately! Has anyone else made them before? Fall can't get here soon enough, so until the temperatures get cooler, I'll just be inside sewing these babies, haha! What are you sewing right now?

OOO! That's a good idea! I'll have to try that!

Ashley -- many towns have a ceramics studio where you can take classes, buy supplies, and have your creations fired in their kiln. It's fun; you should give it a try. Hint if you make the mushrooms : make a hole in the bottom to insert a chopstick (or other stick) after they are fired so they stay in the ground without covering up the ceramic part. I learned the hard way.

Oh how fun! I'd love to get into making ceramics, but have no idea where to begin (that doesn't stop me from collecting work from other artists though, haha! ) I have a lovely little fairy statue under my fig tree and would love to add some toadstools to my herb garden <3 And my family is the same with meringues--I only make them with marshmallow root powder now, as any other flavor, my kids are like "these aren't the same" lol

I made the ceramic ones many years ago in mushroom colors and put them out in the backyard. I still come across them now and then; they make me smile. The marzipan ones
go on our noel log every year. Fortunately we have a couple of marzipan maniacs in the family.

Thank you all so much! Yes, I put them in my house plants (usually between the inner and outer pots so the bottoms don't get dirty), but I'm also making little banners and ornaments for Halloween and Christmas, hehe!

StitchinWitch--oh, I love ceramic ones! I'm not a huge fan of marzipan, but I did make some meringue ones last Christmas to go on our Yule Log cake! Mini quilts are super fun! I'm so pragmatic, I hardly make them though. Prefer mug rugs or full-size lap quilts for Alzheimer patients. I'll have to look up that book! Sounds cute!

Ashley, those are really neat. I haven't seen any sewn mushrooms before. Do you just put them in your house plants?

Ashley your mushrooms are really cute. I've made ceramic mushrooms and marzipan mushrooms but never fabric ones.
Since the kittens have taken over the sewing room I'm sitting my recliner in the living room with the Featherweight in my lap sewing up a mini quilt for my class next week. We're going thru the Simple Whatnots book making a little quilt each month.
