Nicole...
Just for you!

mom in her G.S. Leader's uniform,, we were in New York.
Dad got the ok to use a Military bus to take our G.S. troop to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State building, and United Nations Building... you never heard such giggling from a troop of 10 & 11 year olds as we walked past the statue of a naked man!

check it out,, brand new uniform.. and yes, we wore white gloves (1966)... Penny Loafers, G.S. socks, and in the colder weather,, tights...

typical garage,, 1 car in and 1 out.. we lived in New Britian, Conn at the time.

Ok, Nicole... Tag,, U-R-it! your turn to post pics...

I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout also. I earned the title of best fire builder at camp. I earned my red cross canoeing and life saving badges there too. Many great fun times. Since I had only boys, I have been a Cub Scout leader and helped with Boy Scouts too. My second son became an Eagle Scout.

I was a brownie when my mom and aunt were Girl Scout leaders. She was a leader anymore by the time I made it to scouts but I was the last children so whenever mom went on any trips or anything with her troop I went along. I have my brownie and scout pins and mom's leader one from her jewelry box when she passed.

I need to find my pics! I had them recently but now having a hard time finding them. :(

My daughter is 17 and in her last year as a Girl Scout. She wears my mom’s Brownie pin on her vest - from the 1940s. GS of CT approved her wearing it as it is so special!

I will post pics soon!

OH MY GRACE! I LOOOVEEE your pics! May I show them at my leader meeting this week? I will PM you. I need to pull out my pics and post! I will do that soon! I love the uniforms from the past. Nowadays, the girls have vests or sashes. Not much else. I have all my old uniforms - my mom saved everything down to the knee socks and little beanie. Your pics are so adorable.

My mama was a scout, I was a scout (Mama was the leader) and I have been a leader for over ten years now. My daughter is a senior in high school but she is allowed to wear my mom’s brownie pin on her uniform from the 1940s. GS of CT thought it was so special - and it is!

Thanks for posting. Will post mine soon.

HG56,, The Cresent, was 'The' meet up spot, in Spokane,, there was a big street clock on the corner.. The Cresent was a local Department store... it was everyones favorite place.

I have a vintage hat with a label in it, for The Cresent.

Peggy, OMG! The Crescent... sadly it's just a memory of Spokane's past...

No snow right now, just damp cold ... so many people were / are using their fireplaces in Town that our sir quality is terrible.

I never was a Brownie or Senior, but I was a Juinor and a Cadet, truth be told, I felt so lady like in my skirt and crisp white blouse....
The above photos are if me when I first joined. By the time I left scouting, I had badges all down the front of my sash up about 1/4 the way up on the back side.
Sadly all my scouting uniforms wmy Beret and Sash are no where to be found. That is the problem with being in a military family,, we moved so much... that many things were lost. :(

Grace...I could have joined you in my Girl Scout Uniform and my Red Hair too. Though we didn't do white gloves...I owned several pair for dressing up. On my first job interview for The Crescent
in downtown Spokane...I got the job I think because she commented on my wearing white gloves to the interview! She was impressed that a girl in 1970 would wear them. LOL

I had 3 boys so I became a Boy Scout Den Mother in later years...so, I got to see both sides of the Scouting spectrum. It was fun!!

Thanks for sharing your pictures!! Do you have Snow????

Hugs and Smiles,
Peggy

Great pictures! I was a Brownie, then a Scout. Mom was the leader. Then we moved to the country and I was in 4-H. Mom was the leader. I couldn't get away with anything.

What a wonderful life you have had Grace---I always wanted to be a girl scout---but too isolated in the country. At least I got to do 4-H and that was fun. I remember wearing white gloves to church---seems silly now.
