I followed the instructions in her book to clean and cure a old skillet that I found in Mt.View Arkansas. It was rusted and dirty! I have 2 of my Grannys that I use all the time.

I have many pieces of cast iron cookware from my grandparents and we mostly use them at our cabin shack. They are great. Cast iron was all we had when I was a little girl and I was ashamed of it as it was old hillbilly stuff---now I see how great it was. I always bake corn bread in cast iron. One bad thing---my husband sticks eggs on it at the cabin and how I do hate to clean it. Must not be seasoned right.

I received an offer for Country Sampler Farmhouse Style Magazine. There were several pages highlighting what's in the magazine. One whole page was about cast iron and featured complete recipe for Mini Dutch Babies from MJ's Cast Iron Cookbook. I always get a kick out of seeing MaryJane and her work featured in magazines.

Great job Connie on tidying up your heirloom cast iron pans! Everything tastes better in my book when it's made in cast iron.

I love my cast iron pans (Skillet and fryer) and agree that MJ cookbook is very useful, but I had no idea there were baking pans too. Is there on brand better then the others?

So far my favorite recipe out MJ's Cast Iron cookbook is the coffee pot roast on pg 118. I make it in my enameled cast iron Dutch oven.

I want to find some pieces besides skillets. I love the mini cake pan and breadstick pan in her book but my favorite is the heart pan pictured on the resources page (Pg 218). But like Winnie said - they can get costly. I keep an eye out for them too but only ever find skillets. One day....

I love MJ Cast Iron Cookbook too and use it all the time. Connie, your new cake pan produced a beautiful result from the cleaning instructions! I cook a lot with cast iron and wish I could find more pieces that just need cleaning. I was looking at prices today and they get costly so second hand ones, that I would not use as often, would be wonderful. Whenever I go to one of those antique malls, I am always on the lookout for new pieces.

I adore MaryJane’s cast iron cookbook, too. It is one of my all-time favorite cookbooks. I love all of her books, and thumb through them all ever so often.

I adore my cast iron. Rarely use anything else, and it I find some old stuff, I will definitely bring it back to life!
