I just spent about 2 hours weeding my little garden. It is amazing how fast those buggers grow! This fall I am going to do the carboard/newspaper/mulch lasagna garden method and then I am going to plunk my greenhouse on top. Hopefully it will all compost pretty hot over winter and kill off some of the seeds and I will have a nice moist topsoil for spring. Then next spring I am going to do more newspapers, then roll out some of that black weed fabric, then I will plant and mulch. I hope I don't have to weed next year!!

Alee get yourself a HULA hoe really works wonders a couple seconds a day and it stays weeded. The newspaper and stuff is great too. But I do love my HULA hoe. There is another tool that I think I saw MaryJanes neighbor using in one of the PBS specials called a wonder weeder.

I'll have to look into that, Diana! I have heard of them before but had forgotten until now!

Hula hoe is the best invention ever, and a gardeners best friend!

I hear you! I've been weeding almost all day today. Here in Louisiana, the temperature is 99 degrees. It is HOT!!!! The weeding has to get done. I weed for a half hour, come inside for a half hours, etc...

Marly I feel your pain. I'm next door and about to have a heat stroke myself. Those darn weeds!

I have a sister who lives and works in Houston. She also built a beautiful house in Kerrville (waiting to retire to move there). Is Purdon Texas close by Houston, or Kerrville. Are you familiar with Kerrville? My hubby and I are making plans to move there in a year or two. He has to retire first, close down a business, sell our house, etc.....

It's pretty hot here too, but luckily ? Nora was flooding my garden with water as I weeded so I got nice and wet and cool while I worked ;)
