Today I finished up a lap quilt and table topper from fabric brought back from Hawaii by a friend of mine...
Unfortunately Our only Quilt shop with in a 20 min driving distance.. does not have a long arm machine to top stitch... and I did not want to drive to the big city (30+ miles away.... so I went to plan B... stitching on shell buttons.
these two will be going to it's new home tomorrow to a very special friend who loves anything Hawaiian.,....

the table topper...

Now to get into some other sewing mischief.. HoHoHo...

Nice, Kat. I have a lot of Hawaiian fabric my cousin brought back from Hawaii. I need to make a quilt, too. Trying to find good pattern for large prints.

The fabrics I have are bright with a lot of reds, and some are just 2-color. I have yardage and FQs. It will be a bright quilt whatever I do. I'm not sure what she had in mind when she purchased the fabrics.

My goal today is to sew a bag for toy trains for my youngest son, and to make two toll up pouches for two of my children to hold peg people. I am also hoping to make a pincushion for one of my daughters today.

Lol! I have to laugh... we seem to say " one more project and then I am done" ... but are we ever really done?
I have a "UFO" pile a mile high... I can only hope I don't get dementia .... or else I will never get those (ufo) done... but on the flip side... I wont remember...
oh dear!!!!

Just bound off the stitches on a pair of fingerless gloves for my grandson for Christmas. Need to stitch up the seam and they will be done.

Got Ed's quilt back from the longarm quilter and got the binding on. I had to hide it fast because Ed came home from work. I will take a picture Monday after he leaves for work.

Here's a picture of the quilt I made for Ed for Christmas. The center is a fabric panel topography map of The State of Texas, with 12 scrappy-brown-fabric blocks from my monthly BOM in my small quilting group. (Each month one of us chooses a pattern that we all make in our own colors - at the end of the year we have 12 blocks that make a nice lap quilt - or we use them with other blocks in a quilt.) To make the quilt rectangular instead of square I added a piano key border top and bottom, then bordered it in a "barn wood" fabric. I framed each section with dark brown. I like how it turned out. The back is MaryJane's Milk Cow Kitchen trucks fabric in brown.

LOL! I got the panel at the quilt shop in your town - Paris, Texas! It was from last year, but is probably still available at least on eBay.

I saw the panel at Stitchin Heaven in Mineola Texas when I visited at Thanksgiving. They have an amazing shop and it is available online with several other Texas panels. I actually bought a Christmas quilt kit while I was there. Hugs, Maryellen

Thank you, Maryellen. I like that quilt shop, too! Did you go to the other smaller quilt shop in that same shopping center in Mineola? She has nice fabrics, too, and her prices are lower than Stitchin Heaven.

Lovely, lovely things, farmgirls!

I haven't had opportunity to do much except some paper quilling to finish up my Quilling Merit badges. I had made a card for my beginner badge and gave it to someone. Made a simple 3-D floral "picture" for intermediate and this pic is the one I did for my expert.
Quilling is beautiful but tedious . . . not sure I'll be doing a lot of it!

Gorgeous CJ. When I was in high school a store in the rural town I lived in sold quilling supplies. They also had a ceramic doll with quilling glued to her skirt. I didn't know what it was back then. Someone in town must have done the craft.

CeeJay it's beautiful. It must have taken you hours ~ days to complete it. Quilling will be one badge I will be skipping since my talents lie elsewhere.
