Dianne - wow, beautiful coat and scarf set. Did you make it for yourself?

I'm finishing up my socks. Hope to have the last one done tomorrow or Friday at the latest and then I'm going to do a simple block pieced baby blanket for my df's niece.

Tammy (Rosefairiemom), Thank you, and yes, I made it myself from McCall's pattern #M5987 . The pattern did not call for lining the coat/cape/scarf, but because I used a boucle type fabric (very loose weave--catches on everything!), I decided to line it. I used to sew many of my own clothes in high school and when I worked in NYC after college. I sewed my own wedding gown (one of these days I'll scan my wedding photo and post it here). Then, when I started having children, I sewed christening outfits, Halloween costumes, Santa suits and lots of curtains and pillow covers. Now that my children are older, I have time to sew with vintage fabrics, teach sewing, and sew my own clothes again(because so much ready to wear is over-priced and of poor quality or is what everyone else is wearing). I do detest mending, though--it's not creative! I'd rather sew a new blouse than replace a button (LOL!). I sew it all--aprons, bags, Kindle and laptop sleeves, and lots of gifts. I'm also learning to knit. My goal for the New Year is to post on a website or create my own. Dianne in the Hudson Valley

I got into my mother's old patterns and found a poor old pattern of a church mouse and no instructions, I altered and made some changes. Worked on a pin cushion mouse yesterday. I put pictures on my blog. I don't know why I decided to do this but I plan to perfect this old pattern and make some more. I used the pattern for the pincushion on Martha Steward's web site.

Thanks Karen, I love your blog. I am also interested in old windows. You have some very nice ways to use those windows. Lovely blog!

It is going to be a slow day at the salon, so I brought along my Cathedral Windows quilt to work on. My customers love seeing my progress, and have even given scraps for it. I haven't had to buy much on this project as they have helped me so much. You will see this quilt when (if) I finish it...lol.

Today is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.

I joined a group over at www.Ravelry.com. It is called Blizzard. You CAL/KAL snowflakes all year, then join them in a project. You can make a shawl, tablerunner, tablecloth, etc

I got 100% cotton yarn at Hobby Lobby. It is white with a strand of metallic thru it.

I am presently working on an apron. Remember in High School when you had to gather around the waist? Well, it is very difficult to get the gathers to stay. I have sewn the gathering seams three times and am on my fourth. This WILL be the last time I do that. This is a special apron and I hope to get it off to my DDIL in the next couple of days.

I am working on NOT working on anything today...which will be easy because I am pooped from all
the things that I have been working on! And we are having freezing rain...which is killing my
Fibromyalgia and Arthritis...so, I am going back to bed and working on TOTAL REST TODAY!

My DDIL gave me a plaque for Christmas that says: "EAT, SLEEP, CRAFT" ...Which pretty much sums up my life. They just left out one word for me and that would change it to...EAT, SLEEP, CRAFT, READ!
That is my whole life in four simple words! lol

Blessings,
~peggy

Did your DDIL give you the plague or a plaque? There is a difference you know! I'll email you a recipe that works for me to relieve arthritis pain Peg. Get better, Sharon

Since I cleaned out the chicken coop this morning I decided that the rest of the day be devoted to sewing down the binding on 2 quilts. Not planning on getting both done today but getting started anyways. Soup and bread for supper will be easy enough to let me sew for a good long while.

I started on a making a Sunday's Dress in period costume style (sized for 18" doll) and the plan is to make tattings for it.. to be an example for period costume and tatting. My goal is to gather up enough things and prepare to submit my work for submission to Palmetto's Tatting Guild for a possibly to teach tatting at their next Tat Days! cross your fingers for me!
Oh.. I'll show of the doll's dress when ready.

Yesterday I made a Valentine's Day Stocking and goodie bags for a swap and finished up my mail art project for February. Today I cleaned up my craft space and got the edging tatted on the third edge of my hankie. Was a nice relaxed weekend. I'm feeling recharged and ready for another week of working in the rain!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Yesterday I finished a quilt for a friend's wedding. She got married in Oct. Now I have to finish up a crochet project for my grand nephew. It's a counting fish basket to help him learn numbers. Working on some little wallets too.

I seem to go in spurts. Does anyone else. I'm an a sewing roll right now. Crocheting I can usually do any time.

Just finished two sets of hats/scarves for grandkids for next Christmas (made 6 sets for this past Christmas) - working on another set for oldest granddaughter (14) only have three more sets to go after hers. Also crocheting baby afghan for #14 grandbaby due the end of June (son & wife, #2 for them), making a maternity apron for her birthday on 2.1 and a matching one for their daughter. Want to make up some more aprons for friends who will be coming out here for the summer. Almost forgot, will be making up some booties, caps and sweaters for new baby as well. Sometime in there I'd like to read the new John Grisham book I got a couple of months ago. Just never enough time is ther.
