Oh my goodness...I can't believe that someone hasn't jumped on this wonderful opportunity. I'm hoping to talk my hubby into moving me back to Michigan soon so I can't even think about it. What a dream...

A friend and I have been trying to come up with some way to use this house, but ... . I have thought about a B&B, but it would definitely be a "rustic" or "simplistic" stay. We'll see. Too bad Mary Jane herself doesn't want this house. LOL! I'm sure she'd come up with something.

I wonder if Mary Jane herself gets on here and reads these topics? You could always email her the link to this particular topic... maybe she will fall in love with the house too. Or maybe she would at least give you a few ideas of what to do with it........just a thought :) The Home is Lovely!

A rustic stay is great------nothing wrong with that.

Imagine city folk wanting to give their children the environment of living far. Let them garden----let them help out on your farm-----people will pay$$$ to do this.

Keep us informed---we want to know what delvelops.

I'll think about it. I will let ev1 know what happens to the house. HOPEfully it will not be salvaged, but that is also an option. I'd love someone to save it from that fate.

This house is just amazing and beautiful. A true old farm house. It deserves a new life. I agree that it would be a perfect little retreat. I would love to coem stay in it for a few weeks. What a great way to make some money. You could have a chicken coop amd some goats and sheep in a small pasture. Even a milk cow. How quaint. People would come for that. I have a small guest house that I am trying to get finished so I can do this too. It's just sitting there doing nothing right now. My parents bought a house here so they don't stay in it anymore.

I do hope that is you don't do the bed and board thing that someone will come and move it and live in it and love it again. What a beauty. And so many stories I'm sure.

Kris

It depends, Beverly - it is a 1 bathroom house, four other rooms besides the kitchen. And the back porch is currently enclosed, but I'd take it back to porch if it was me.

Linda...I keep finding myself coming back to the pictures of this Victorian Farmhouse...over and over and over again. I rarely post when I do...I just love to look at her and wish & dream that she was mine. She is just so charming. She would make a great Mother-In-Law house on some one's larger piece of property. Only thing is...is I want to be the Mother In Law that gets to live in her. LOL

Never hurts to day dream and think "What If"...

blessings,
Peggy

LOL! My son is already married. Sorry. It IS beautiful, the only problem that stops people from taking it is the costs to move. And it may need to be cut in two and de-roofed to move. LOL!

Richardson is next to Dallas on the east side (mostly). The farmhouse is in Lone Oak, which is 16 miles south of Greenville, TX. Population of Richardson is 103,000+ .

I have houses in both places. And it is HOT in both places. Don't like this weather at all. 21 days straight over 100 so far. Are you a city farmgirl? I enjoy country life and don't miss the larger city as much as I thought I might.

I wonder - has anyone else ever tried to give a house away on Mary Janes? LOL! It sure isnt EASY!

Oh wow. Too bad, as others have said, it is probably about 7 hours from me. :( I would jump at the chance! Not sure how far out you are, but what about a cool country store? That is what I would love to use it for! Good luck in finding someone to love her and make her their own!

The original owner of my house here had a country store on the corner in front of me. There is no remnant of that store here now. A friend and I have thought about a gift/quilt/craft shop or a "garage sale" shop. I don't know if I a, up to handling a full-time shop, though. LOL!

Hi Linda~

How about a once a month sale, be it garage, yard, antiques etc. It gives you a month to shop and set up your treasures, all you have to do is advertise. I had a friend in Montrose, CO who had a similar sale once a month and did fabulous. Something to think about, I would love to do if I lived in the right place and had a fabulous old house like yours.
I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do with it, and what is meant to happen will.
Again thank you so much for sharing the house and the history.
Farmgirl Hugs,
Debbie

That's what a friend and I were thinking about - just using it "as is" - no a/c or heat or plumbing. Just as a "place" for a sale. Would have to be daylight hours. LOL! There is a power pole and we could run a Heavy Duty extension cord for a few lights. I have even thought about finding a tennant who would want to fix it up in lieu of rent. LOL!
