Linda, your information about the $30K cost of moving for another farmgirl was very helpful. After a little bit of research, it is not possible for me to have it....SO SAD!

Jennifer......If you get it, then we can plan our 3rd annual camp out next year to be a 'working camp' that we all help clean up the house, scrape paint, repaint, etc..... FUN!!

Blessings
Catherine

Jennifer and others -

I have someone who is looking into moving it, but if you are truly interested, please send me a private email and I can give you the name of the Structural Mover who gave the other person the $30K price.

It's BEAUTIFUL!!!! To bad I live in WV. I agree it would be a shame to have to tear it apart. Hope some lucky family finds it soon.

I love it and told my Mom about it. We also thought it would make a nice "Daylight Store", selling quilts and antiques and such (Period) items. Put a pot-belly stove in there for warmth and hurricaine lamps for light and enjoy it all, make a little money and meet folk with like interests! ;-D

Spoke to my hubby and just can't do. I hope this house finds a great home! Would be a shame to let it go! Good Luck!

Jennifer - Too bad. I hope to find SOMEthing to do with it.

Judy - A friend and I have THOUGHT about using it for a "shoppe" of some kind, because I do make quilts and aprons and other kitchen/retro items. Just not sure for now. Right now with Texas not getting any rain, the pasture is SOOOOOOOO dry that I dare not light candles or kerosene lamps/stoves in the house, LOL!

How about making it a Craft/Fabric/Workshop/Craft Consignment Shoppe? Just a thought

Wow...like everyone else, I wish I didn't live all the way in California. That is such a wonderful house. Would give anything just for those pillars on the porch!!!! Someone's going to be very lucky indeed!

Kim...I have dreamed of this Farm House too. It has sooooooooo much potential doesn't it???? Oh, if only I
could say, "Beam Her Up Scotty". LOL It also reminds me of the Old Farm House that Dorothy's Aunt lived in
on "The Wizard of OZ"... (Auntie Em). I would love that house to live in....it just speaks to my heart!

These are the things that dreams are made from...

Blessings and Christmas Joy,
Peggy

There was an article in Hobby Farms magazine about moving antique houses like this... I've been thinking about it ever since :( I don't have any land I'd want to put it on though.

Yes, it is still available. I wish it could find a new home and become a great home for someone. Another farmgirl has been going to come and see it for several months, but hasn't yet.

Do you have east Texas property? The price to move is different for different distances.

Has a mover come out and actually looked at the house? Maybe given an estimated weight and height? I'm just now seeing this and already bugging my husband. lol I am 1451 miles away tho. I have been holding out for an old house that needs to be moved as long as its free.

only 1451 miles? LOL! Yep - a mover has looked at it - it needs to be moved in 3 pieces. and it would prob be outrageously expensive and almost impossible to go that far. But you can dream. LOL!

As I have said, the $30K was one price given to move it. Others have been given lower prices, but it was for a shorter distance than 5 hours. If you do a lot of work yourself, or leave it a bit more "country", it probably wouldnt be as much to fix up. Lots of ifs and stuff. email me off line for additional pics and chat if you want.
