I also live in Texas and have been battling them. I use the ACV and did not know to add dish soap, will try that to, I use small ramekins also and cover with saran wrap, they go in but cant get out. This has worked good. I will have to try the mason jar also. thanks!! Farmgirl #946 Linda

It's nice to see all the different ways to get rid of flys. How many of these have worked?

Neat ways to get rid of flies, will this work on all flies, or just the fruit flies?

I have always used the apple cider vinegar and dish soap with great success! I have never heard of putting saran wrap on top as they die and I just toss it when it gets too many in there.

Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

Jean, As far as I know this only has worked for the fruit flies. I still resort to fly strips and a swatter for house flies.

It's too bad we can't use that for all fly control. Isn't it something that we have to use different things for different flies?

It's too bad that we can't use the apple cider vinegar on all flies. Guess we will have to resort to other methods on how to get rid of flies. Thanks for the information ladies.

I just wanted to chime in and say that ACV and dish soap worked very well for me. I just learned about it on a different website a couple of weeks ago and tried it and they were gone in a couple of days. I love to find ideas that are not chemical based and really work.

Jeana, I like the idea of non chemical based sprays or whatever for fly prevention as well.

Its sad that we have to use different measures for fly control on different flies. Too bad one thing didn't work on all.
