You figure out how to go to the bathroom with an infant in your arms.
It's the little things that amaze me through this new adventure. What made you finally say "this is real and I'm a mom"

When you can't even GET to the bathroom during daylight hours without child younger than 6 (or more than one) demanding to follow you in to the toilet. Children 7 and up are more subtle... they talk to you through the door or slip hand scrawled notes underneath the door to answer burning questions like "can I go ride my bike?" "can I pet the cat?" "Can I have some juice?" "where was I born?" "What color is the wallpaper in heaven?" etc.

I remember so many times when I had left the baby with my husband for a quick trip to the store or whereever. As soon as I walked in the door, he would (grab a magazine) and dash to the bathroom saying he had been waiting for me to get home because he couldn't go while watching a 2-, 3-, 4-month old baby.... Are you kidding me? How did he think mothers got through our day? What did he think the 3-month old was going to report ( and to whom!!)
It is so fun to think back to those days!

You know your a mom when you can walk thru the house and not notice all the kid stuff all over and you only see their faces (hopefully smiling to see you).

I used to walk through the front door after work and right away hear "cookie, cookie, candy, candy?" And then the kids would start in.

When u learn how to 'properly' remove something from the nose of a child too small to use tweezers on! I would also add when you hear screaming while your in the bathroom and you don't open the door without askin if there is blood first. That's my big rule with the girls!

You're a mother when the biggest concern is not how big a mess a project will make, but if it will be engrossing enough that you might get 20 minutes of relative peace.

You know you are a mother when your baby smiles at you for the first time and your heart burst with joy as if you were witnessing the first sunrise.

I bought a 'baby sling'. LOOOOOVED it. I was able to do things with 2 hands and still hold the baby. It was my lifesaver. Hubby and I were talking about this last night. About how the first shower without children in the shower with you is the greatest feeling.
Good Luck. Arttie |

I agree, Jen. Today I had to weigh the pros and cons, but the pros won. Yes! Please cut up all these magazines and decoupage those pictures!
