As I read posts, I glance over to the left at the farmgirl's name and sometimes I am completely lost as to its meaning. Some of our names are just that - our names. Some obviously describe our position in our family (babysmama) or our pastimes (goneriding), maybe the place we call home (Montrose Girl).

But some have me curious - tribalcime, Bear5, AceLady2 - so I thought I would ask.

How did you choose your farmgirl name?

Mine was easy. Our farm is named Rough Start because things didn't go so easily with my daughter's first horse and that is the horse's show name. So the farm was named after the stubborn horse and I'm the stubborn farmgirl from there .. Easy! Rough Start Farmgirl. Oh and I'm a lazy typist, so no caps - rough start farmgirl.

Please share!

Mine was easy to come up with. Since I had a huge health scare in 2003 I decided life is short. So I decided to make my life simple and get rid of things that destroyed my being. So I came up with "Simple Living" and have changed by life completely.

I love things of old, the way things were done and way they were made. I like doing things and reading about them.

Thanks Brandee, Joan and Rae! Although your names were pretty straightforward, the explanation you gave really gives insight into what you hold important. It seems we all took a bit of time choosing our farmgirl names.

I was working with a group of younger woman and I was the team leader. They started call me Machick because my grandchildren call me Ma. They are all very dear friends. When i needed a framgirl name it worked fine. I too have wondered about some of the names. Most are so fitting.

My name is Kimberly and one time someone called me Kimmy...... I despise being called Kimmy so I told them they could call me anything BUT Kimmy. They started playing with my name to come up with a nickname. Lieberkim is my name's syllables backwards Ly-ber-kim. Being German I spell it Lieberkim. Lieber means dear so I guess my nickname is my name backwards and a term of endearment!! :D

Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories

What a neat topic! I've always hated my real name and as a child, used to always tell my mom - why didn't you name me Ruby - because I loved the name Ruby. So once I got on the net (in 1998) I immediately started using Ruby as my 'screen' name for all sites.

When I joined the virtual world, secondlife, in 2007, I chose Ruby Vandyke for my name. Now more peolpe know me by that name than my real name! All the phone calls and mail I get are for Ruby {laughing}. The funny part is that I think of myself as Ruby and sometimes accidently say it for my real name. I've actually considered legally changing my name to Ruby even.

I'm really getting a kick out of reading these stories. LieberKim is so clever. I had no idea what fille de ferme meant. Had no idea Margaret's last name was Wolf. Figured out Audrey's name and Ruby's (although I wonder what her "hated" name is!). I enjoyed knowing Sheila also loves roses and Diana's MaChick is a great name to have given to you.

Hope more farmgirls decide to share.

WINDSWEPT....the wind never stops blowing. We live on a hill, so when "down town" is sweltering in still summer air we always have a nice cool breeze but the winter winds sure seem to blance things out!! Our plum tree has all its branches going one way...when the leaves fall the wind blows them off the lawn.

I have lived in Colorado since 1996 when my hubby retired from the Army, I love it here and feel so Blessed to look out my kitchen window every morning and see America's Mountains, Pikes Peak.
That is why I chose Blessed in Colorado as my farmgirl name, and I would never want to live anywhere else, this is truly God's Country.
It has been so enjoyable to read why every farmgirl picked there name, I tried to guess maybe the reason why some picked there names, got some right and some way off. Like Margaret, MEWOLF, my guess was that you liked wolves not thinking it was your last name:-)
So, thank you Marianne for starting the thread and to all my farmgirl Sisters for sharing.
Happy Valentine's Day Ladies.
Farmgirl Hugs,
Deb

One of my Aunts was called Queen Bean. When I was very small, she called me Queen Mushroom. We'd get into arguements of who was Queen Bean and who was Queen Mushroom.

My friends were always telling me that I was as busy as a bee, always buzzing around looking for some project to get into. Hence, came the
name "Buzzn Bee."

Now, a lot of my friends just call me Buzzn Bee rather thab Deborah or
Debbie. When I was in the hospital and my hubby was running around
helping me, he nicknamed himself MJF Brother "Big Buzz."

What fun to read all of the different names, and how there origin came to be.

Hugginz from the Buzzn's. LOL!

Mine is a shortened version of my first name - Stephanie and my last initial. It's been my handle online since I was 13 and joined Yahoo, so 16 years now!

Mine is the name of our homeplace. We live in a straw bale home, and we have enough animals to pretty much consider ourselves a ranch. The previous owner called the place Wildgrasses, which is cool, but I wanted to rename it something to include all of our critters so Straw House Ranch has stuck.

Isn't this fun? So often gals are wishing they had chosen something else ... I wonder if it was really important to someone, if they could change their farmgirl name. But, then we would all have to get to know who they are by their new name... Life is challenging enough. Let's all keep our names just the way they are!
