Okay my name is also fairly straight forward - Barbara means "stranger" and I consider myself crafty...... craftystranger is who I have become online. I have enjoyed reading how others have developed their screen name. I think it shows our true personality in a weird way......

Ah, this is a great topic! I consider myself part city girl, part country girl, so the knittin is for the country in me, and the chick is for city girl.
LieberKim is a great one! These are all so fun to read about!

Oww stands for Old World Wisconsin, a living, historical, 500+ acre, outdoor musuem of immigrant farm life in WI in the 1800's. I worked there for six seasons as a costumed interpreter. I was a lady of the 1800's. For anyone visiting southern WI, it's a wonderful place to visit. Check it out on the internet. So...I'm Owwlady

Well, mine's pretty easy too - the love of my life is a beekeeper; thus "beekeepersgirl"!

It's been fun reading everyone's explanations!

Annab: short for annabanana. - a name for all Annas I think, and one that has stuck since birth.

My uncle gave me a giant blow-up Chiquita once. And it's tradition to place a beaded banana in the boughs of our Christmas tree. I've had that beaded banana since I was 3.

The whole thing is kind of fun to type, but when shortened, its easier if you are in a hurry

Jan,
I spent a Mother's Day at OWW. We used to live in Burlington, WI. Home of Nestle, part of my husband's many chocolate jobs.

Alyce,
I don't know why ... but your farmgirl name reminds me of the popular book/movie series Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. You could be the next installment, after Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. The newly popular Girl with the Hook.

Who knows why my brain goes where it goes.

I take that as a compliment, thank you! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has Asperger's, as do I.

Still hoping to hear from a few more farmgirls...there are a bunch of really perplexing names...

I have enjoyed hearing about the ones that I had sort of guessed about. And especially the ones I had ALL wrong!

I have a lot of ferns in my shade gardens and love Fiddleheads. I don't have a farm yet but will some day. So Fiddlehead Farm it is!

Marianne,
It could mean airhead, cause sometimes I sure feel like one! Oh well, Fiddle-dee-dee.

It was the only thing I could think of at the time- I'm often knitting or plucking mandolin, banjo, ukulele, playing something. I picked the name before I took up fiddle. I do wish at times I could change it but I don't think that's possible.

My name is Miranda, and I'm *currently* not married, but fixing to change that. My email address is missmirandafornow, but I have a feeling "miss" will stick... I ALWAYS get called Miss Miranda

I really find the southern way of adding Miss to women's names (whether young or old) as a way to show respect very charming. We didn't do that in California!LOL

When my dh and I first bought our little farmstead, the old scary looking farmhouse had walls full of bees. Yes, if you put your ear up to a wall inside, you could hear the collective 'hummmmmm' in there. When we first started restoring the house, everybody told us we would have to kill the bees to get rid of them. Well, that wasn't going to happen. We worked around the 'bee wall'(to this day, we still have not removed the old plaster on the inside like we've done everywhere else) and left the bees to their beesness. They eventually swarmed and left, but I called the farm 'Bee Haven'. So from there, I became 'Miss Bee Haven'(it also sums up some of my behavior, if you say it quickly...missbeehaven...that's what my dh says I mostly do!:).

When I chose my name I was looking for something different than what I normally have and I had a big black Percheron horse on a few acres with chickens and goats. I was also starting an etsy store and thought Black Horse Farm sounded cool. Well ... Now I live in a condo in Chicago, I have 2 dachies and I had to sell the black horse and only have my haflinger (definately not black) but I guess I am stuck with the name now. lol
