My travel nurse job came thru today. We will be heading to Cambridge, Mass. to the teaching hospital for Harvard and Tufts universities. I will be working 8 hr. shifts on their adolescent psychiatric unit. I am so glad to have a job that seems like it will follow thru and I love working with the teenagers best. It seems like a great unit and I really liked the nurse manager after talking with her on my phone interview today. I am anxious to have some structure back in my life. I will be able to get together with my BFF in NH almost every week for lunch-the closest we've been in 6 years, and we'll be able to see my brother and his family in Maine before we come back home. We'll be in Cambridge from 8/4-11/6. I plan to eat my fill of lobster and I'm glad we will be gone before the snow (hopefully, anyway.) Next weekend we are celebrating my tomboy grandgirls 11th birthday at the local racetrack. She loves the cars and they are personal friends of 3 of the drivers. They go to watch the race almost every week and the main driver said we can have dinner in the pits and take pics with the cars while the drivers sign autographs. She does not know that we are coming to her house. I am so glad. We are SO close and I miss her so much even though I saw her only a month ago. I will also be able to spend a few days with my elderly aunts which is always a good time for us all. AND I plan to finally meet up with Nicole (Texdane)somewhere-not exactly sure how to do this because she lives on the other side of the state of Conn. but I can't get that close and just not meet her. We're not going to sightsee. I'm a little sight-see(d) out with all we've done this year. We're going so we can spend time with family and life-long friends and because no matter how long I've been in this business (39 yrs.) I always learn something new and that excites me. I also hope to get time to get some of the photos from our cross country trip in the photo album. So many wonderrful memories. Joey

Hi Joey, I guess I missed something along the way here....I know you were in Hawaii, for 13 weeks?? Is this Boston job the next step? I am happy for you that it is something that you want, and that you will be able to meet up with your BFF :}.Boston is such a great city. I spent quite a bit of time there at Brigham and Womans Hospital with my dad when he was undergoing treatment for cancer. The facility and doctors were amazing, and we were truly impressed with all of the medical professionals that we dealt with. I am sure that you will be joining the ranks, and making a great impact on everyone whose life you touch! Update me when you can....boy you sure do keep us on our toes following you across the country! How exciting!!! HUGS,

August is a good time to be here but bring some light clothes as the areas you will be in have sooo much cement it can be very hot & humid then.....also bring a sweater so if you are near the water you might get chilled....Oh & also make sure you get a 'Grinder' while here...the steak & cheese grinders (aka Subs everywhere else) are wonderful....Michele'

Laurie, I did a post on this forum on 7/13 call Really westward ho-UPDATE that will bring you up to speed. I only did the Hawaii job 1 day because when I got there the job the hospital gave me was not the job I agreed to and had no interest in doing, so we came back to Florida last week. Yes, the Mass. job is another travel assignment. I will be working at Cambridge Hospital for 13 weeks. I started my travel RN career 5 years ago in Boston for 6 months and we had a ball! DH goes with me. I'm thinking I will probably end my travel career after this assignment, but we're not sure. Boston feels alot like home (Philadelphia, where I was raised) due to all the historic stuff and all the old bricks. I know it snowed there last year 10/31, I'm choozing to ignore it (LOL), I do not own boots. I do have a warm coat and scarves that my BFF has been storing at her house for 5 years. On my firat assignment, we were in Boston from June thru Dec and the first snow we had was the day we were packing the car to leave Boston. We leave 11/6 so I'm hoping for the same thing this year. I am very excited and starting to pack. Unlike Hawaii, we will take kitchen and bathroom stuff with us and not just clothes. Joey Laurie, how is your Dad? Thanks for the good wishes, gals. I really enjoyed Boston and am glad to be going back. Joey

Hi Michele, I just got your post. Are you anywhere near Boston so that we could met? I'd love that. You gave me good advice-thanks. I've had grinders and they are good, but I'm from Philadelphia where we have fabulous hoagies and cheesesteaks..just a little hometown pride, Sorry. We enjoyed some of the food carts near the Common the last time. We never go hungry. Joey
