Received my official "Little Free Library" sign-this week and finally today....the library is finished from the top of it's cedar shake shingles to the vintage glass knob on the door. The "Little Free Library" will be officially UP and OPEN next week with photo's very soon-PROMISE!! It's so CUTE!!-I went with more of a Swedish stuga theme and embellished the corners of the big door with hand cut, painted white, wooden gingerbread and the entire library is painted a warm, rich barn red!
I am asking my farmgirl sisters for good used Children's and/or Young Adult books-Hardback or Paperback- for the library. If you have some you would like to donate...media mail is pretty cheap! I would like to keep a good supply of books in my "Little Free Library" so that I have a well rounded assortment of books that will encourage literacy in my own "little" neighborhood. Know that these books you donate will be free to anyone who visits my little library and that they will indeed make a difference-It's a great way to get rid of the books your kids have outgrown and will bring a smile to another child!
Please contact me for more information and my address-
I know I can count on you to help me stock a well rounded "Little Free Library!"
Thank you so much...

Will they check them out like regular library? I don't think I have any more of my boys books but I will see what I have at my shop.

Karen,
My "Little Free Library" sign indicates that you "Take a Book" / "Return a Book" so the books are "Free" but the borrower can also return the book when they finish reading it or bring another book to replace the book that they took...sort of "paying it forward" or they can just keep the book. I am hoping for the "honor" system to kick in, but even so a book will be read by someone who is interested and therefor this encourages more reading!
I like the concept and I think it encourages more participation if they know the book is free with the idea that they can return on their own or bring a book from home that they enjoyed and want to share with someone else.
