Everyone who expressed interest in the Free 1900s farmhouse in east Texas, this is where the updates will be. I will post pictures of the house and the work done to ready it for the move here. If you want to see the rest of its journey, please subscribe to this topic.
The trucks arrived bright and early Dec. 17, 2012.
The workers started removing sections of the metal roof where the house was eventually cut in half for transportation.
.JPG) The roof sections have been removed where it will be cut in half.
.JPG) Dec 29, 2012 - I'm home from Christmas vacation and house is on trailer beams without wheels. There were snow and rain storms here Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and after. The house could not be moved before January.
.JPG) Dec 29, 2012 - You can see from front to back of the house where the workers have separated the two sections. They also covered the opening in the roof due to the rainy weather.
.JPG) January 2, 2013 - (And next 2 pictures) The workers arrive, put wheels on one half of the house, and begin to move it. They have to bring it around the front of the other half of the house to go from this pasture through my other pasture to get it to the road where the path is the smoothest.
.JPG)
.JPG)
.JPG) Jan. 2, 2013 - The first half of the house is in the far corner of my pasture, ready for its move down the highway to its new home. When I woke up on Wednesday, it was already gone - starting its journey.
More pictures as things progress.

How exciting to see this! I am so happy for this old house to have a new life. It's so sad to see so many grand old houses being torn down or just falling down from neglect. I can't wait to see it in it's new place and then to see all the work to make it a beautiful home again. It seems like maybe it's going to be a store? Did I read that in the other post?

I love to see old homes given another chance. Our home was built between 1834 and 1837. I just had to have it and restore it!! Anxious to follow this journey :)

That is so neat, I have kept track since you started trying to give it away and this is such a neat ending for it. It is great to see how they move a house and such a big job. Thanks for sharing, I will continue to watch what comes next. darlene

Have also loved this old farmhouse and been watching the give-away since the beginning. Thanks for letting us all be apart of it. It is neat to watch it on the move to it's new destination.

How wonderful!! Thank you so for the photos. There are so many of us who have been wanting this house and it just wasn't possible-it is SO good to know that it is going to a good home. Did it go to a farmgirl? I just know someone is loving this place. Hope to see pics this summer with it all painted and planted. SO GOOD to see this house moved to a new home. Joey

I'd love to know who bought the old house, and I'd love to see how they fix it up! So exciting. I'm so glad they saved the house. Marly
