Well, this is what I have. A broken finger that droops. And there is not even a fantastic story to go with it. I was scrubbing my carpet with Resolve, and my longest finger buckled under with a great big POP! I have never had any sprain or broken bone or anything before. It does not hurt, but it is useless. I am left handed, and of course it was my left hand. Anyone else had this? I am wearing a splint and have an appt. with a hand doc next week. Ugh!!!

Shirley, OUCH!!!

Just reading your post made my hand hurt. Sounds like you may have dislocated your knuckle. I will pray for a quick healing.
Take care and keep us posted. No more cleaning for now. Are you keeping ice on it? That will help with the swelling.

hugs friend,

Thanks for the comments gals. Wearing a splint that at least allows me to use the other fingers. This Friday I get to see a hand doctor to see what will happen in the future. Hope it is not surgery!

That is exactly why I avoid housework as much as possible! It is dangerous!

Seriously, I hope the doctor can make you right as rain!

Hopefully, no surgery. Doctor says it will never be the same but will heal. Found this great little splint called Oval 8 that really helps support it. Eight weeks in and still needing to wear a splint. Everyone says it will heal....eventually. Started a new quilt this week. The fabrics were calling to me, and so I am stitching with nine fingers.... teehee A friend suggested I name the quilt the Nine Finger pattern.

It sounds a lot like trigger finger. It will lock in place, not allowing you to straighten it. I have it on my right hand right now. I have to gently and slowly pop it back into place when it gets stuck. Very inconvenient, and a gross way to freak out people, but will eventually go away.
