To start off with, I love and respect my step-dad, Randy.

He is a mister-fix-it. But he is known in the family to fix something and not quite get the job completed or prehaps the fix will be worst than the original break. Randy is a very giving person, and jumps in to help when ever he can.

About 2 years ago, we remodeled his and mom's cabin together. He was a off flying airplanes and I lived in their home to supervise the workers. When I would find a problem, I'd give a suggestion as to how to fix it. Randy would then try something else, it wouldn't work, and then do my idea and claim it as his own. He being a man and all, I didn't argue. Now it's kind of a family joke.

Anyway, to the point. The cabin I now live in, I am remodeling. The kitchen sink has a major clog in the pipes. I am not a plumber. I can build things, sheetrock, paint and tile. But I've not messed with pipes. So, I got out my Story's Basic Country Skills book (everyone should have this book!) and read what to do, bought the tools needed, and I think I have a handle on it. In the mean time, we've been washing dishes outside in a large bucket. He walked by, and asked what we were doing. Of course Randy wanted to jump in and fix the sink, but I told him I thought I had it handled. And then he said: "Well, when you get done playing with it, call me and I'll come fix it."

OMG! Now I WILL get it fixed! I am a farm Girl. I have a Farm Girl can do spirit!
(and if I can't fix it, I'll sneak in a plumber!)

So send me your positive Farm Girl thoughts, and I'll let you know how it goes!

Yes, Shanda,
You CAN do it and you will! He'd never get away with that comment to me either!

By the way, women were the plumbers in old Rome when amazing things were done. DH reminded me of that fact back about 30 years ago when we were building our house, and promoted me to plumber. I did my homework and with his help on the heavy stuff we got it done. I DO remember going in to a hardware store for some parts and telling the guy working there what I needed. He smiled at me in a condescending way and spoke very clearly in a slow careful voice, "Do you mean the WHITE pipe or the BLACK pipe?" He just about got himself kicked!.
