We bought this last summer but we just now brought it home from a very hard to get to spot up high in the mountains. It was for our Nephew but he moved out of state. I guess I might make it a guest house. It is pretty nice on the inside and has a lot of beautiful varnished wood on the inside. What do you all think of this big ole ugly thing? Should I paint it? What should I do with it. Should I sell it? I'm curious to know what you ladies would do with it. It has 2 little bedrooms in it.

Laura....I like it, but do not know the answers to your questions. I am sure several wonderful farmgirls will chime in with cute ideas.

Oh My Stars! I am in Love! I would not paint it outside, nor inside.... I would turn it into a hide-away cottage to hide and read in, do some needle work in, or just nap in... as well as use it as a guest cottage. These old beauties are so wonderful.... clean her up, sand & re-varnish the wood work inside and then have fun decorating her... You are so lucky to have such a Diamond of a trailer.

Keep it!! Decorate it your way. The way you would if you had no one else's needs or likes and dislikes to consider. Then enjoy it as your little retreat and share it when company comes a callin. Enjoy!

I do not know anything much about trailers, but the vintage quality of this one makes it special. I guess my consideration would be focused on what would be my costs to keep it or use it versus selling it and taking that money for a more pressing need at home. Do you actually need a guest house? Would you actually use it as a personal studio? It not, then perhaps the money it would be bring makes more sense than keeping it. The other issue is that it will continue to require upkeep to make it nice and keep it functional. How does that fit into your budget? With the current glamping craze, it might fetch a good price. It also looks large enough that someone could use it as a temporary home on new land until they would be able to build a house. There might be a nice market for that use as well. Lots of possibilities! You will have to keep us posted on what you decide and give us more photos!

Yes, I think you should sell it...to me! LOL! That is one gorgeous camper and you have a treasure. It would make a great guest house or crafting/retreat for you. Enjoy! I know I would.

Laura, Here's a restoration of one like yours - before and after pics. http://www.vintagecampers.com/viewrestoration.php I would LOVE to have one like this to put up on our mountain property. I think it's beautiful, I would keep it.

Now that you have it home, please share some of the interior with us. I used to live in a trailer park where one of our neighbors had one that looked just like your camper. How long is it? Those old Spartans from the 40's and 50's were really well made. Clean the woodwork inside, but don't sand it or paint over it. You probably can't find wood like that anymore.

Laura- WOW! I don't see anything ugly about that beauty- and I am getting in line of all the other gals...I'm jealous!!!!!!! I would definitely keep that baby and make it into my own private little getaway right in your backyard! How awesome. And then, when you have company (like say me for instance) I could stay in it! Enjoy it! Have fun with it! Hugs,

Laura, I don't know much about old campers, but I vote you keep it. There is not one ugly thing about her. I look at those old gals and see beauty. I would set it up on the back property, or in a grove of trees and fix it up as a guest house or get away place. The enjoyment you will have at the end knowing you made it your own. Karla |

Oh my, you have to keep it! There's so much character in that old girl! You could make yourself an amazing at-home hideaway, crafting cottage, writing retreat, etc. Or just doll it up and make it a cozy spot to go and listen to the rain!

Absolutely not ugly!! Keep it silver! If you decide you don't want it, it will likely sell better in its natural condition! I love it!

Good ideas ladies. I think I will put it behind my house in a grove of trees and make it a guest house. I sometimes do need one because my home is not very large. I just don't know if I have the time to keep it tidy. And I have to work outside so much that honestly time to just be inside my own home is a break. Even having time to clean and organize my home is like a treat to me. Sad isn't it. The winters here are so long and cold, I could probably only use it for guests from June through Sept. I don't know I might rather trade it for a boat for my hubby or a good heavy duty truck. I will post pics of the inside soon. It's pretty. Laura

That is awesome! I would make it a guest house, or it can be used for anything you want :)
