I am home just for the day to go to a wedding & am using hubbies computer so I can say hi. I also want to thank every hen who has written, send cards, gifts & seeds to me while I have been at the farm...Without your letters I would be lost & I soooo enjoy hearing about what your all doing & getting the chance to write letters which I love to do.
I can't thank those enough who send seeds, I have so much land around the trailer I am growing huge gardens so I can let the food bank come out weekly once ever things is growing & take what they want to help others in the community......that's why I needed so many seeds & boy did you all do good!! We were having such wonderful weather I put out my beans & last week we got lots of rain & down to 38 degrees & it killed the 10 that were starting to grow...but I have so much I can replant.
as many of you know this journey was to be a off grid year but things didn't work out quite as I wanted as my friend wanted the breaker on for the heat wrap on the water pipes this winter...well still had 12+ weeks of frozen pipes & got very good at melting snow for me & the kids (chicken).....also cause I got there in Oct the cord of wood I got was completely wet then froze so some days never could get a fire to go in the woodstove & was thankful the regular stove was there so I could have hot soup.
But I have learned that this whole event is more about me helping my friend with this farm & getting it cleaned up before they move there to retire than being completely off grid again.....so its different than I thought but I feel good about anything I get done...& boy is there years & years of trash, junk & old cemented manure.
The kids are doing great & I made sure they had heat lamps in there coop even if I didn't have heat during the winter at times...they didn't choose to be off grid
please keep writing & know I miss you all & think about you all the time.....

Well HELLO MICHELLE!!!!!!
So nice to see a post from you! We miss you here too, as much if not more than you miss us!
I must admit that I think of you often, but have been very bad and not written to you in quite some time, so I apologize. As with everyone else "life" has been hectic and busy, but basically with all good things. You continue to intrigue me and I sure do hope that you write a book about your time at the farm- it will be a bestseller I am sure (well- it definately will be to us farmgirls!)
Big hugs to you. Glad to hear that all is well, and I will do my best to write soon!
Hugs,

~Laurie
