Planted my tomato, pepper and eggplant plants today . . . topped off with their little dog hair "toupees", tied on to deter the deer!
Now, grow, grow, grow . .

Wow PattiLynn, your garden is beautiful! This year I have a half dozen pots that I am growing mostly salad greens in with a few tomato plants, herbs and a zucchini. The salad greens are going so well, I'm planning to plant some more seeds in the next couple days to keep the salad bowl full.

Have harvested kale, garden salsa peppers and just this morning, picked my first batch of beans.

Beets came up and were about 1 inch tall, then some critter munched them down to nothing. I replanted and the same thing happened, so I'm giving up on beets, at least for now.

Teeny tiny bugs were chewing on my lettuce, so I sprinked Captain Jack Deadbug organic powder on it and the lettuce started to grow again. I've replaced that as well, will sprinkle it sooner.

Never ending battle it seems to keep things alive, watered and not destroyed by pests!

Have harvested curly kale, Italian kale and red kale. Cukes, yellow squash and zucchini. Basil, parsley and lettuce. My peppers are all a mess. I don't know what that's all about. I'm loaded with all kinds of tomatoes. Just waiting for them to ripen. Love my garden!

Sounds like wonderful garden goodies, Darlene! I'm hoping for more. Because of our climate and relatively short growing season we don't get to plant some things. I used to be able to grow spinach but the last few summers have been so danged it hot, it bolts and doesn't do well. I love spinach and wish I could get it to grow again! Maybe someday. I might try it again later after some cooler temps to see if I have any success. BUT, we usually have early fall frost, sometimes in late September.

Well, I've given up on beets and lettuce. I've planted both twice and they come up, get about an inch tall and then some critter eats them up. And, I noticed a couple evenings ago that, probably deer, had eaten some of the top leaves off of a few of my bean plants. I've NEVER had anything eat bean plants before! I think the plants will be okay if they don't eat anymore!
I'm kinda frustrated with this this year! You plan, spend money, work, weed, water and then things get eaten up! UGH! And, yes, I'm trying a variety of deterrents.

Pulled a couple yummy carrots! Most are still too small to eat, have lots of kale and picked another batch of beans. I doubt I'll have enough beans to can any this year. I still have some from last year so they'll have to get us through this winter.

Because of past devastation by squash bugs I haven't planted any squash of any kind or pumpkins for about four years. Our neighbors, however, do plant summer squash and they are keeping us supplied with that right now.
I hope to try squash again sometime.

We've had some big rain the last couple of days so I haven't had to water the garden. Haven't had to drag hoses around to water the lawn either. Kinda nice!

I have canned 16 pints of beans 12 pints of plum jam that even looks like it will set. Today I picked a LARGE cabbage and am making Kraut. I have about a gallon of beans in a couple days I should have enough to can. I found a french bean cutter and it is really a lot easier. I have very few tomatoes and I have a grandson that eats Salsa on everything. Peppers are doing well finally will roast and freeze as I get them. Cucumbers 4-5 a day and the pickle cucs 6-7 a day I have started two 1 gallon fresh pack jars. The corn was eaten before it could even grow by mice. Onions are looking good. I have started to take zucchini and put it in to unlocked cars in town as I can't even keep up with it.

Wow, Diana! Sounds like you've been busy! I think you'll get more out of those purple beans than I will out of mine! Part of the problem is the danged deer chewed the tops off of some of my plants!
