Just finished my Fairy Garden. Everything is handmade except for the birdhouse, solar lights, and the terra-cotta pot. I used a solar light to light up the stained glass window, in the birdhouse.
Does anyone else have a Fairy Garden?

Oh, My Goodness that is just too Cute! I don't have a Fairy Garden but I have a Fairy House, and about
5 Fairies on a Bookshelf in My Living Room. And I wrote a Poem about Fairies. In fact when I walked yesterday
I went by a Yard that had a Tree in the Front Side yard with about 4 or 5 different varieties of Moss underneath it. And I thought...Oh, my goodness this would make the cutest Fairy Garden. I would put a
Fairy Door at the base of the tree, then put Fairy Houses all over it...with Fairies, and make it look busy and inhabited with all kinds of gardens, fencing, toadstools etc. And then I would string White Twinkle Lights in the Tree and turn them on at Night. I just had this whole Fairy Fantasy going in my head while I stood there admiring it. I took a Picture...I will download it off my phone and share it on here tomorrow so you can see what I mean. ~ But yours is Absolutely Charming!!! Thanks for sharing!

Hugs,
Peggy

I had leftovers, so I made a smaller one, as a gift for someone.

I bought the birdhouse at a craft store. But if you want to make them light up; the trick is using those cheap solar lights, that you just stick in the ground. I used a cutting bit on a dremel to cut a hole, large enough for just the cap from the solar light to fit. If you want to put the birdhouse on a stake, drill the hole for that too. I put in a fake stained glass window, which is white plastic colored with sharpies (clear plastic doesn't work). Spray the little window with some finishing spray so it doesn't fade or run. Paint the house and also spray with a finishing spray, then glue the solar light in place. You do that last because you don't want to spray the glass on the solar panel.

If you use moss like I did, then you shouldn't use the birdhouse outdoors. If you want to use it outdoors, make sure to add multiple coats of finishing spray, to protect your birdhouse from water.

Ok I made a typing error. If you use moss: DO NOT put the birdhouse outside.

Adorable! I've been planning a fairy garden, but haven't put it together yet. Just found a big pot for my shaded back porch. Which plants did you use? Are they all shade plants? I recognize the pink corrugated one.

I used Elfin thyme and Blue star creeper which are both low growers that like partial sun, and are very hearty. The pink flowered one is Herons bill which is a low grower. The green one with the pink veins is Nerve plant, which is an indoor plant, and shouldn't be used outdoors.

Elfin thyme and blue star creeper are found in the perennial section, and are considered a ground cover (which you can walk on).

It helps to draw what you want your garden to look like. If you plan on dividing your plants into beds (or fenced in area); I recommend cutting dividers to mark off your areas. I used an old plastic place matt. I then put in my flowers, then my fence.

My fairy garden even has it's own chicken coop. I made mine out of an old broken garden fountain that looks like an old pile of broken pots. I laid it on it's side & the fairies just moved in. You have to look close to see the fairies, but they're there!
Pixie - your fairy gardens are so adorable. You have some kind of talent!

Oh my goodness I have been all over the board looking for fairy gardens. I have two houses and couple of other things. Haven't started putting it together yet. Oh this is so awesome. I just love it.

Kathy, your fairy garden is so cute! Your little chicken coop is the perfect touch! I also like how you made yours out of old broken things. That's a great way to repurpose.
