We celebrated Kentucky Derby at our home today with family & friends. SlowQueen & her husband attended and donated 3 dozen of their pastel chicken eggs for the raffles we had. Can't wait for the official race!

Sounds like a lot of Fun!! I watched the race on TV and I couldn't believe that 20 horses qualified and then had to run in that muck muddy track! I am always holding my breath that nobody falls and gets hurt when the track is so slippery. DreamOn did his owner proud. We are going to the Preakness in two more weeks and I hope he will be there so I can see him in person.

Love those gorgeous fresh eggs in all the pastel colors. What a great raffle prize too!!

We had such a great time watching the races and enjoying delicious mint juleps! This was our first Kentucky Derby party and my favorite horse, Always Dreaming WON! We currently have a surplus of eggs so we brought a few dozen with us and everyone loved them. We have Americuanas, Gold & Silver Lace Wyandottes, Black Australorps and a Brahma which give us a nice mix of eggs.

I was 12 when my parents and I went to the Kentucky derby. We were VIPs because my dad was a member of the press. It sure was fun.

Headed for the Preakness on Friday so we shall see how the Derby winner does on this slightly longer race. I hope the track isn't all wet and sloppy like it was in the Derby. I'll let you know how it all goes next week.

Next time we're up in Gainesville Winnie we'll have to meet up and I'll bring you some eggs!
