Another quick idea to share with everyone to recycle store bought Christmas cards:

Just trace around a large enough cookie cutter (top part that doesn't go into cookie
dough when you actually use them for that) and cut them out. Punch a whole in the top
and put ribbon or cord through and you have some really fun gift tags. Make sure when
you cut the fronts off old Christmas cards that there is no writing on the backside so you will
be able to write the "To & From" there.

Thank you Nora for that sweet handmade Christmas stocking card. Loved the sparkle with
glitter and the puffy white top on it.

Thanks also to Christa for her sweet gingerbread house card. So much fun opening each
card to see the surprises inside.

Thanks Connie....sorry to hear you got the flu and hope you're feeling better soon,
Hope you have some tea or hot apple cider to sip on.

I'm still working on my cards. We moved back to Washington and most of my craft stuff is
out of state so most everyone's cards will be different since I have to use whatever supplies
I have on hand. Kept a few of my Christmas rubber stamps with me and bought some
Christmas ribbon. I should have all my cards mailed out by the end of this week.

I mailed everything today. Card swap cards, Hen house cards, bills and swaps. I hope I did not forget anyone or anything. I'm sorry I did not get to a PO on Saturday, we went out of town for the day, then yesterday I meant to go but the pool made me like floppy rubber. I just came home for a much needed nap.
Connie I'm so sorry you got the flu! Just take it easy peasy lemon squeezey as the kids say. Our tree is going to make me sick. Allergies! I almost lost my voice last night.

Linda do you move frequently for your husband's work? There is a nuclear power plant about forty miles from here. They have times when a different group of peop!e come in to work for several weeks. They travel to plants all around the country. I'm not sure what they do but they make good money. You are a good wife to pick up and go.

No Marilyn. We had been in our last home for 23 years. We were in Idaho close to 2 years.
Enjoyed how friendly everyone there was and will miss the friends we made there but so good
to be back home here in Washington near friends and family.

Finally got back from the East Coast visiting family. Soo many miles in the car. Poor doggie is is a sensitive little girl, and all the strange motel rooms worried her.. then, to add insult to insult, when we got back she found we still had the CAT! Now, you have to understand our former greyhound and Molly call the cat, Darth Vader. Cat does not touch the dogs, but when he struts his stuff entering the room is enough to make the dogs freeze in their tracks...

And of course Darth has visits from my cousin cat sitter while we were gone —— but there is a price to pay when I get home. SEVERAL sleepily nights as kitty wants aerobic petting for several days. VERY affectionate critter... but has his moments.

Sooo. Going to make my cards today (YEAH!). And wait until our winter mix day is over to mail them. We went from almost 80 a few days ago with a forecast of winter for Two Days. Texas weather is interesting...very interesting.

So everyone have a Blessed Christmas, and a happy New Year!
Mary

My cards will be going out on Monday.
The cards I have received are beautiful!
I love each and every one of them.

ps. Need to apologize for November cards. My post office said I had enough postage. However I have received 2 cards back for insufficient postage. I mail them again on Monday as well. Please, anyone who had to pay extra postage let me know so that I may reimburse you. Again I am so sorry.

Deborah... no, please do NOT reimburse me...

My PO said a thick card can be classified as a “ package” and require extra postage. Go figure... it all flies on the same plane.... it’s not like they were exercise weights. Go figure,

Have a Blessed Christmas..

Cards hopefully out by Monday.. redoing cards this weekend....

Every post office is a bit different. Every clerk is different. As soon as we get a nice, friendly lady, who is good...she disappears. Anyway, I looked it up again. If your letter or card is larger than 3.5" x 5" and no larger than 4 1/4" x 6" and no more than 1/8" thick it will go for one stamp if it falls in the 1 Oz weight. Someone recently folded their cards Inside out. When I opened it I was a bit confused but quickly realized what a smart lady! She protected her extras and did not add any weight from cardstock.
We need to watch out because rates go up on January 21, 2018. 50 cents for one ounce. But if your clerk chooses to say your card is a parcel it will be $3.50. I've had that happen before. I learned...only take one card inside to see what they say. Anyway, if you think it is non machinable the cost will be 50 cents plus 21 cents for the Sur charge.

Thank you , Marilyn for explaining it so well.. I love the idea about folding the card inside out to protect the surface, and perhaps not have to pay the surcharge..
Great !

Marilyn that happened to me too. My cards needed 2 stamps. I went into another post office that day and I had 12 envelopes and she said 1.90 each!! I said, Not at the other location it's not. never mind. Just a book of stamps please! LOL! They all got there fine!
My cards went to the post office today via my hubby.

Thanks Dianna, received your lovely scrolled Christmas tree card with pretty beads on it. I
really smiled when I saw the "Charlie Brown" "Good Tidings" clipping. Every year my husband
still loves to watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and neither of us ever tire of it.

Connie, so much fun opening your Christmas card and very special and amazing quilted
Christmas tree "treat bag"! The chocolate sweet has already disappeared and it was
delicious. What an adorable vintage dress Christmas card and the Christmas shapes
confetti was neat. Neither stamps on your envelope had been cancelled and the envelope
was so perfect it looked like it had never gone through the mail.
