This is Ginger's first camping trip...

What a lovely get away, even if it was for only 3 days..

I think Ginger is more of a Motohome dog,, vintage trailer camping is not quit her cup-o-tea! lol!

altho' she enjoys her afternoon naps with her dad.

Hi katmom. Ginger is adorable and your camp site looks great. I have been going camping to our rustic retreat the last several nights. Since I only have a cabin and can't glamp---I have decided to call myself a gramper. Gramping means grunge plus camping. Because grungy is the best word to describe camping in a primitive cabin by a creek with seven dogs. Tonight we are going back and have a fish fry---full moon---fireworks festival. Some loud ones too. No neighbors to disturb, but the dogs will get scared and hide in the cabin. Keep on having fun and I will too.

Grace, How crowded was Riverside State Park. We were at Fort Spokane State Park and it was very quiet considering how beautiful the weather was--and best of all no generators!

Our cabin is sorta like an old hillbilly house. I had one visitor who said it reminded her of the house she grew up in. It is pretty spacious for a rustic retreat. We have a living room with a wood stove. a kitchen with a 1930's range. We have a little sitting room off of the kitchen and a bathroom with tub and vanity so that I can heat water and have a bath. There is a bedroom upstairs. And we have a big front porch. The dogs just sleep all over the place. We put down blankets for them to lay on. They usually hog the couch and chairs though and the bed too. Is there any other rustic retreaters out there or grampers as I call them? If so we could talk and I could leave these nice glamping ladies alone. HA HA I hope to post some cabin pictures when I learn how and if I can ever get the cabin good and clean. WE're really not bad housekeepers---we just live close to the earth.

Grace, haven't camped at any state parks in Idaho. Once we were thinking of it but I couldn't figure out what we would have to pay for the site. Even wrote to them and didn't understand the answer: ) Something to do with not being a Idaho resident.

I hear ya,,, different prices for different sites...
We paid (w/hook-ups) $35 a nite but there are some for $30 there,,, but if you camp up above, Dry Camp the sites run $25-$35..
I think most State Parks would charge the same,,, but then again, I could be wrong.

Nicole, we had to put 'Petticoat Junction' (formally Hobo Junction when my hubby camps with me...lol!) back into the barn until the rains pass us by... hopefully by mid-week we will be able to pull PJ back out... so I can get back to re-decorating her.

I'll bet Gidget is happy to be stretching her wheels in the sunshine...

Hi, Annie in Idaho here. We live near Farragut State Park. It is a great park, but in the 5 years living here have yet to get a reservation. They are usually booked over a year out. Cold weather and late snows keep us from going until mid-June. Yes, the state parks charge a fee even for Idahoans. Because I live in Idaho I just purchased the State Park sticker for 2 years with my drivers license. I imagine each state has this kind of fee. But it covers only entrance to the park, not camping reservations. We go over for the day sometimes and walk around. It seems there are no longer camping you can go to on a spontaneous whim. Take care now and have fun.

"The turnings of life seldom show a sign-post; or rather, though the sign is always there, it is usually placed some distance back, like the notices that give warning of a bad hill or a level railway-crossing." Edith Wharton, 1913 from 'The Custom of the Country'.

Annie,, so true,, here in WA., I go on-line in Oct to hopefully get reservations for the WA state parks.
We buy the year Pass, a "Discovery Pass' $30 so we can hang out when ever we want in the state park, but it does not cover camping.

Yes you are right,, it's difficult to be able to take a spontaneous camping trip. Thank goodness I don't mind camping off season.
