When we bought this lil ranchette,, we knew there would be a lot of clean-up... I was tempted to just cut down and clear out everything except the fruit trees... but I am glad I held off..
We have these magnificent Lilac bushes on the one side of the house

as you can see,, we will have to do some pruning,, but for now, Peekaboo kitty and I will enjoy the heavenly scent...

I have been doing container plantings for this year, mostly hanging pots.. and I decided to pot my chocolate mint and apple mint as well..

until I decide exactly where I want next years garden,, pots work well.

Wow, how lucky are you to have such humongous lilacs!

How I love to smell lilacs. They are so beautiful and one of my wonderful childhood memories. We always had a lilac bush. Ours aren't blooming in WV yet and I am looking forward to them. I always bring some in the house.

My Peonies and Iris are starting to bloom open,,, go figure, because I fly out at 6am tomorrow to go back to SO. Calif., to be with my mother again.
I gave hubby dearest strict instructions to send me photos daily of them while I am away!

I am so glad I thought several years ago to plant lilac bushes beneath my bedroom windows. They are thriving and what a joy it is to wake up to that glorious scent!

They sure do. Lilacs and roses are my favorites and now I have both in my front yard. They're glorious!

Where can I purchase an appleminy? I would love to try some. I am going to be planting a garden this year and am open to trying new and unusual plants.
