Hello Everyone!
We will be kicking off a NEW RAOK starting on July 15th and running through September 4th. This one will be different from our previous RAOK's. For those not familiar with this RAOK means Random Act Of Kindness. In the past, we have sent surprises to each other. However, this time around, it will be different, here is the scoop. . .

We are all members of the Farmgirl Connection, we are all Farmgirls at heart! Many of us are working on merit badges, some of us are members of a hen house too. Keeping with the spirit of "A Farmgirl at Heart", it would be wonderful to share our sisterhood with others. . .Especially those in need.
We could do our own Farmgirl Round-ups. . . tying on an apron and heading in to town, bringing an apron and a home baked goody to surprise someone new to the area, maybe the bank teller who is having a bad day. . . even the delivery drivers who show up at our homes! We could create many things to gift to others in need, share the excess from our gardens with a local senior center, day care or a family struggling to make ends meet.
Every two weeks we will have a challenge to do. You will simply do your best and share in anyway you can. We always share with each other, now it's time to share with others who could use a little extra kindness with no strings attached.

I will collect everyone's information and put together our list as always. Each person that signs up will receive a PDF with your fellow RAOK Sisters. This will allow us to work together in creating as many RAOK's as possible.
Just think of all the possibilities. . . sending a card shower to someone who is housebound, sending baby clothes to a new mom who has a very limited income, getting together with other farmgirls to stop by and clean up someones yard that cannot do it for themselves. I just know we can move mountains. . . we are farmgirls who just keep on plowing through!!

This sounds wonderful! I’ll be away though for several weeks, should I still sign up or should I wait until the next round when I know I’m going to be around?

Hi Joyce,
We would love to have you join in. You mentioned being gone for several weeks,how long exactly? Would you be able to take part in the RAOK every couple of weeks?

FIRST SUMMER RAOK CHALLENGE:
Let's kick this off with a CARD SHOWER!
Theme: Lift ones spirits
Cards: Handmade are wonderful, if pressed for time, then store bought works too!
What: Let each card be a fun, uplifting card. Keep them bright and happy.
How: Send as many as you like. The objective is to lift someones spirits WITHOUT them knowing who did it!
Where: You can mail them, drop some off to a nursing home, even leave them for a co-worker when they are not looking.
Have fun and please remember. . . this is a RAOK. . . we are not expecting anything in return.

Time for a new RAOK!!
You have a choice of one of the following over the next two weeks:
1: Help a parent preparing for their children to return to school. They always need the basics, pens, pencils, paper, school snacks and more.
2: Share your garden bounty with someone. Think of an elderly neighbor you see and have never met, a family struggling to make ends meet. . . even someone new to your neighborhood
3: Fresh Floral Bouquets. . . straight from your garden! Think of nursing homes, someone who is house bound, someone that could use a little cheering up.
Please share AFTER you have done your RAOK. Have fun!!

I missed this sign up, but LOVE the idea! I have two boys, and one of their expectations on their chore list is to do something nice or helpful for someone every day. We've done this for years. They have to stretch their imaginations and think of others. We also practice random acts of kindness regularly. I think it's a lovely thing to do, it encourages us all to remain selfless and to think of others, I'm always encouraging my boys to leave someone happier or something better than how they found it. Love makes the world go round!

Hi Joanna! I did not officially sign up, but am sharing a couple random acts of kindness: We have elderly neighbors, and she's been taking care of her husband who has dementia and can barely get around, and her 60 year old son who is fighting throat cancer... We found a shower seat and a handicapped potty seat for their bathroom for them and delivered them last week, she cried and said she's so grateful! We were so happy to find the medical appliances for them to help make the men more self sufficient and to help make things easier for her. I also shared our home grown tomatoes with neighbors and took a potted plant to another lady, just because. My boys and I are always looking for ways to be helpful and thoughtful! Love makes the world go round!
