Got the two creeping rosemary into their pots this morning. Rain due later in the day so that will get them off to a good start. I hope I am through buying plants - it's fun to buy them in April but not so much fun to water them in August.

I am somewhat new to bulbs, I started to really appreciate them about 5 years ago when neighbors would share their Iris and Glads with me... I brought some of the bulbs up here and bought some bulbs as well and then dug up and relocated the stray ones growing here on this property.
My Crocuses are just starting to bloom...yellows and purples.we don't have to many deer hanging around here but we do have a couple of moose who cross our property to get to the property across the road from us. So unfortunetly they walk across my planted lavender and bulb garden, rooting around and being nosey I guess. Lol!

I think I am still a member of the poorhouse chapter lol Is there a way to check. What are my southern farmgirl pals doing about all this rain? I have some veggies in containers, however it is way to wet to even do our garden although we have done the discing twice, it seems we are going to fight the grass this year.

Angela I hope the sun will come out in your area and you'll be able to get into your garden in time to plant.

Seems like someone up there is remembering us, what with all this rain! I'm glad to see it, even if it does put off the planned planting. Before we had to cut the grass, I was sitting outside and a brown rabbit ran straight toward me and I saw a hummingbird at one of the purple flowers. First time I ever saw a hummingbird not at a feeder. The rain will make the grass grow tall again soon & I hope the animals will come back. Meanwhile, I have half a pound of mixed local wildflower seeds I'm looking forward to planting in containers. I might even put some out front. :)

Jennifer I have grown in containers for years but have never tried wildflowers. May give it a try this fall. Here in Texas we sow wildflower seeds in the fall. Would like to have a pot of blue bonnets our state flower.

Angela the state of Texas plants wildflowers along our highways thanks to Lady Bird Johnson. When the bluebonnets are in full bloom you can see people taking pictures of their children in the midst of all the blue.

Sara,

Did you know that Texas highway patrol are given bluebonnets as well?

I miss bluebonnets so much! Right now we are having March weather so I am not planting much at all yet.

The other day I moved my Mexican marigold "Texas Tarragon" plant from small bed in front yard to raised bed. Hope it does better there. I've had it going on three years and it has never bloomed but I cook with the leaves and make tarragon vinegar. Texas is too hot to grow French tarragon so Mexican marigold is a good substitute.

This morning I planted six more creeping rosemary plants along both sides of sidewalk to front porch. Good bedding plant and so easy to snip a little here & there when cooking.

I miss watching the Lupine sprout up wild in SO. CAL,,, we can grow them up here (zone 4a&b).. mine self sow and seem to be quit hardy and the Deer so far have not bothered with them, but mine are not ad lush or tall as the ones I grew back in SO. CAL..
But just the same, I am happy to have them.

i got gardens plowed Tuesday evening. Mine, my moms and my nephews. I had hoped to plant potatoes last night, but got busy with other things. Now in the wee hours of the morning we had rain. So it will wait a few days more. I did plant a few vegetable seeds in two raised beds i have. the hard part is remembering to water them frequently.

Michele that's a lot of plowing. Well done. I have a hard time remembering to keep up with my watering when it rains ever so often. Doing the summer when it's hot and dry it's easier to keep to a watering schedule.

Well,,, still no garden plans,, I did buy a few plants today,,, and by the time I got home it started raining quite heavy, and by 5:30 we got hammered,, and are in a Flood Watch,, just watched the news, several roads have gotten so much water that cars started to float away from the curbs.. Yikes!
So I guess it will be a few more days before I can get anything in the ground..
I hope my 'seeds' that I planted a few days ago didn't get washed up.. guess we'll see....

I worked hard today hauled 6 yards of lawn scraps and leaves to fill in a large converted storage shelf to make a planter. Juices flowing and creative energy for the next couple days of planting and sprucing up! The sun's out and it's still to cold to put the sprouts outside but I am gearing up! So happy for the weather! I had a little windfall and bought A bunch of flower plants to compliment my Salad, Tomatoes and Okra!
It was wonderful! I will post pictures soon. Nothing big nothing fancy but my garden all the time.
I'm happy to say that I made a new friend also. Pam has an African Gray parrot named Chiquita! They are both very nice! Lol
