Social Services and the Salvation Army put up fake trees here in various churches, the mall and a few public places and than the public can make or buy mittens, hats and scarves which are than collected and distributed to those who need them. I am currently using up my Biits and pieces of yarn and making hats and scarves for them as they wil be going up soon here.

Krista, did you ever get enough empty shells to make both gifts? If not how many more do you need?

Marilyn, I actually just got them all cut and the wood painted last night. I am shy 66 silver and 4 gold. I am making 3 different ones. I'm not sure what I will do. I was going to ask around again today.

Thanks Natalie! I didn't think of it as repurposing, but you are right! Especially since those shells won't be sitting in our landfill now.
